I don't know.
Part of me thinks they will always be able to do enough damage control on people who want to believe anyway or who, for family or employment reasons, don't want to be 'outside', to keep the org going. And, although I wasn't a "full fledged apostate" back in the day...when Franz left or during the 1975 mess, I know that there were no doubt lots of people who thought, "YES! This is it! This time they're going down!" and they didn't. As a matter of fact, my husband and I came in after both those events...and heard the dub spin (without, of course, ever hearing the whole story) and accepted it.
On the other hand, the massive amount of information available out on the internet, can keep people from getting that first hook sunk in them. And, with the advent of internet news and links, "isolated" cases of things like child abuse can be linked to show it is a wide-reaching organizational problem. And, the key (in my opinion)...JWs with doubts can look stuff up and connect with others who are questioning or plain out, and do it in anonymity. A combination of these 3 things will gut the org, if anything can. Or at least make it change.
