I dumped all my books 2 weeks ago in the garbage container outside. I made a spring clean up.
Worthless books, I didn't read anymore. They are out of date, and why should I keep them.
I put the trash where it belongs.

DJ,
You got mail in the little message area Simon provides for us. I'll send ya a reasoning book if you send me your address. I'll even pay for the mailing, it should only cost like a dollar or two.
Theres a couple of books I regretted getting rid of. Definately keep the older stuff.
I would just give them the bound volumes w/ your notes & duplicates, but keep the older ones.....
Yeru,
I have an elder's manual, and I never was an elder. I got it at a BRCI conference from a guy who had just left the religion and Bethel. He took 40 of them from Bethel. He sold them for five bucks each. I understand that they are very expensive on EBay. No, I don't want to sell mine. I do believe that copies of it are available on the internet, which you could copy for the content.
For those of you with old books, don't destroy them. They are useful for research and some are worth a lot of money.
http://www.hedning.no/hedning/arkiv/jv/ is where you can find the Elders Manual... Tks, Kristine
When we quit, I thought about returning the books to the KH. But my distaste for the org increased exponentially as time went by. I didn't want to return the books to the KH so that they could "help" others become trapped in the borg. So I just threw everything away... the CDs, videos, books, magazines, etc.
I did keep the Watchtower Library CD for reference purposes, though. I now have the 2001 version... copied it illegally. Woo hoo!
I am in a similar situation. I still have very old publications and bound volumes galore. I wouldn't give any congregation the satisfaction of knowing I would give these back to them for free. True I don't use them anymore, but something tells me that they are worth something. Its a part of my past, so I will always keep them.
If I had really old stuff, I would have sold it on ebay. But everything we had was from the 1990s and up. We didn't have any bound volumes, either (always used the CD-ROM).
I would say definately give them to a good home. Someone like ourselves who does a lot of research. If that is not an option, I would certainly burn it.
I would not want to be bloodguilty by allowing the books to get into some unsuspecting persons hands.
