In my personal opinion, I truly think that this is the most important book that a person can read who has been apart of the wt organization-

i have spoken to so many folks in the last 7yrs who left the org back in the 70's and it was not until they :

    1 read his book

    2 came onto the internet

were they able to much better put things in place and in thier life

while it is true a person can leave and perhaps move on , i think that for most of us we needed help and his book along with such sites as this often times provide us with the needed help to put issues in their proper place,

it brings to the table a much better understanding of the inner workings of the org and esp how those inner working impacted our lives,

to me by reading his book it is like the difference between having a GPS and trying to use the sun and moon to figure out what the direction to go in-

while there are those who can use the moon and sun for directions, most of us i dare say can't and to me that is where his book comes in at- after spending 30yrs of my life, giving wt my best in terms of :

    1. time

    2. energy

    3 money

the few dollars spent on this man's book is no comparision

each time i see some poster say "Why doesn't he make it Free" i want to laugh-

after being in wt and having your entire dignity stripped away from you as a man or woman, it is almost a joke-

while i would love to see him put the whole damn thing up on the net- it in my view does not dimish the value of the info it contains- besides Bill Gates is a Billionaire and I ain;'t seen no Free Office 2000 software yet either- smile

Think about this- would it not be interesting that when he and his wife die thier Will states for the

book to be UPLOADED to 1000's of Mirror sites to provide his message free for all to read

Ray Franz lives in Winston, Georgia. It's such a small place, I feel sure if you address your letter to him there and get the right zip code, he'll get it.

I loaned CoC out to my DA/self appointed annointed uncle a while back and during this week we had the opportunity to discuss the book I asked him to share his thoughts with me. This is what he had to say, "this one particular paragprah I marked off for you to re-read sums up/condences the entire essence of the WTBTS legacy. Chapter 6 Double Standard page 168: All this is what I find shocking. And however sincere some may be, I still find it frightening. I could not personally comprehend how grown men could fail to see inconsistency in all of this, could fail to be repelled by it, could not be deeply moved by its effect on people's lives. In the end it simply convinced me that "organizational loyalty" can lead people to incredible conclusions, allow them to rationalize away the grossest of inequities, relieve them from being particularly affected by any suffering their policies may cause. The insensitizing effect that organizational loyalty can produce is, of course, well documented, having been demonstrated again and again throughout the centuries, both in religious and political history, as in the extreme cases of the Inquisition and during the Nazi regime. But it can still produce a sickening effect when seen at close quarters in an area where one never expected it. To my mind, it illustrates forcefully the reason why God never purposed that men should excersise such excessive authority over fellow humans. I said to him, "this was an extremely difficult book for me to digest and he said, "this book is the ultimate deprogramming guide/manual". I wanted to share this conversation with you all.

I want to order the book, but want to be cautious in HOW to get it.

How does it arrive in the mail? I don't want my family seeing what it is. I just can't get my hands on the book. I wish it was a e-book.

I went home for lunch today and my copy was in the mail. I can't wait to get home this evening and start reading. I have the feeling it's gonna be a late night. (The book is much larger than I expected, by the way!)

I have read both Crisis of Conscience and In Search of Christian Freedom a couple of time. They are great. They really helped me to see the organization for what it really is.

I am so grateful to Ray Franz for taking the time and effort to put these books out.

If every JW could read these books, the Watchtower organization would crumble.

    Nickey,

My husband got a post box at the other end of the city. Then he made different covers for them and read them at work. When the time was ripe he brought them home and I was introduced to them. Now we keep them hidden along with other forbidden books. We call this spot our 'apostate library'. ( if our family would find out we have they books in our possession they would go balistic)

Any correspondence to Ray Franz would reach him if sent c/o Commentary Press http://www.commentarypress.com/. I had some questions when I first read CoC and he replied at some length although I am unsure if his health would allow it now. It is, without doubt, a very good read.
