  I smoked before becoming a witness. I was told to quit before becoming one of those jw's. Because it was not my choice to quit. I struggled with the addiction~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  I quit smoking for 14 yrs in the org. I started up smoking out of spite and being rebellious towards my ex and the org. my whole motive was to get disfellowshiped. Ended up being pushed out and DA'ed self.

  Actually I hurt myself by smoking. Turning the anger towards me.

  Smoking is one of the nastiest addictions to deal with.

  I usually do this on the back deck as I drink some wine and enjoy the sunset. For some reason this rebellion against the jw rules always brings a smile to my face and a chuckle.

  Strangest damn thing, at a meetup, when we get down to the last beer and last six or eight folks, everyone has a butt - everyone. My neighbor exJW across the street does. Sounds like repressed rebellion to me.

  I've been off cigs for 1 week now. It seems that staying off of them isn't a problem for me until I drink a beer, for me beer and cigarettes are an inseparable combination.

  I must have smoked many pounds of marijuana as a teenager/young adult, I think I lost some mental sharpness as a result. I think it also contributed to the paranoid mindset that led me to seek refuge in JWism. I still struggle with paranoia.

  Nope, I quit cold turkey 11 months ago coming July 5th....The smartest thing and the best thing I have ever done besides excepting Christ as my personal Saviour and Master...

  Smoked a few cigarettes when I was a teenager in the woods with some boys....threw my guts up....never smoked again.

  I have never smoked experimentally or habitually. Mother is a respiratory therapist. Nuff said!
