It seems to me this has more to do with local law than the Witnesses. I know that at the stadium here in San Diego, after 9/11 they posted big signs stating that absolutely no coolers were allowed in. They didn't allow them in for games before anyway, but they never had signs posted in bold letters at the entrance and I don't think they ever bothered the witnesses about it before. Maybe they are just cracking down on it now.

Swan: They stopped preparing food because it was causing too many brothers to miss out on the spiritual food provided. My dad was one of them. We would have to go to the morning part of the next week's District Assembly because Dad would miss the first half each day being in charge of food.
I want to thank your Dad. I always appreciated the hard work of those brothers and sisters in food service. I volunteered for food service several times myself, but I actually liked having something to do rather than have to listen to the whole session.
So is that the official reason for stopping food preparing? As far as I know, they didn't stop or curtail the duties in other departments where they needed people to work during sessions. I suspect the real reason was that they were losing too much money after going to the donation plan.
Anyway, thanks again to your Dad and to you and your family for the time he had to spend away from you folks.

Swan: That was so sweet. I too enjoyed the food preparation because that meant I missed at least one talk, but having to go back with my dad the next week was a pain, although I was allowed out of that most of the time.

I feel bad being thanked for food service because it was a hell of a lot better than sitting around and dying a slow death to "symposiums" and the like every day.

Whhhaaat RT? <Xandria looks innocent> a cooler bomb ? It would be one hell of a disruption.Sandwiches man everywhere.. fruit cup, ding dongs, and the potato salad.. landing all the women's hair, oh Jah's blessed books, .. oh the carnage. Perhaps, one had all the gases stored up inside and did explode.. not enough ice I guess.

They would prefer that you not eat, but if you have then bring a cooler that fits under your seat.

Sorry. Nothing could be farther fromm reality. Paying for meal tickets was replaced by donations so WTBTS would not have to pay taxes. First started in Germany. WTBTS in the USA, hoping to nip the tax thing in the bud, introduced the "donation " plan. Did not work, because they could not recoup their costs. Business is business after all. Couldn't have Uncle Sam taking away their hard earned profits now could they. I mean why would you want to " pay Ceasar's things to Ceasar " ?????

Some must have been "tailgating" at the DCs because the WTS had this to say in 2001 to burst their bubble:
KM 5/01 p. 6
While it has been suggested that we bring a light lunch to eat at noon, it is not appropriate to set up tables in the parking lot to serve a large meal. This would give the impression of the tailgate parties that are common at sporting events.
