RAPE & GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

These are two words that are truly hard to use in the same sentence- I have had the opportunity to work with rape victims since leaving WT and I is unreal-

in the Old testament the god of the bible requires the woman to SCREAM OUT, EVEN if no one heards her- now this is an interesting bible verse-

consider this ---here you have a woman or child who is under Divine Judgement to scream even if no one heards them in the village

YET the god of the heavens --and for those who believe that Jesus IS GOD ( THE JOHN 1:1 CROWD)-- THEN we would have to say that Jesus - ALONG with billions and billions of angels are ONLY ONES WHO will hear her scream out.

YET WHAT do they do- NOTHING- so here we have a woman or child who is forced by someone perhaps much bigger and stronger than they and God'/Jesus/Angles DO NOTHING TO HELP

now the kicker is this has been going on since the days of old and yet up till today NOT ONE WOMAN HAS HAS GOD INTERVENE

if it was not for the fact that some passerbyer hears her and comes to her aid - she gets no help from the heavens-

many belivers often site their own personal exp of how the "LARD" not the Lord ---but "LARD"-- help the Nebraska Corn Huskers win the NCAA football Sugar Bowl-

yet here lies some woman on the ground- clothes rip, bleeding from her gentials and "God" was out on the 50yr line ordering a Coke and a Hot Dog

when you look at the clear contridiction between being all loving and picking and chosing which of his kids he will help out today --it is truly sad

    Yeah, nice huh JT.

Been watching the special on PBS about the rise of black American religion, and dammit all I can say is, there is one born every minute.

I would encourage all of you to do research on a gentleman named Denmark Veasy, who was the chief formulator of a plot to free slaves in a radically violent event. Along comes two no-named slaves (true enough, history doesn't even bear their names) who feel religously and righteously compelled to advise their masters because of their religious belief as Christians. Namely, that although as slaves they were sold at auction like cattle, beaten, raped, killed, children stolen etc, the LARD still wanted them to act kindly toward their masters. Can you imagine?!?!?!?

So of course Denmark Veasy and his five cohorts are hung at the city line.....because God was too busy overseeing some other major event taking place at the same time.

Yeah, JT, God seems to have shitty timing, huh?

This is an issue I really struggled with during therapy, and frankly I still find it hard to deal with. I still believe in God, and I believed in him when I was raped. I don't remember how old I was, or exactly how old I was (maybe 3?), but I remember sitting on my bed and looking out my window. I can still see the wooden shutters and there was a full moon. I looked at it and thought the light must be coming from God because it was so bright. And so I asked God, "Please make my daddy stop hurting me."

When God didn't answer that prayer and I was still hurt I experienced a side of God that is cold. Perhaps that is why I was so angry at the Witnesses years later when I received the same reaction from them.

I don't now why God does not intervene. I wish I did. It is something about which I am still angry and I've told my God that I am angry with him for.

    Big Tex,

Don't be mad at the LARD. He was probably busy installing some new presses at the 360 Furman Building!

How selfish you are to think that his timing should have coincided with yours!

NOT ONE WOMAN HAS HAS GOD INTERVENE

    JT,

    "Oh ye of little faith."

"Don't you know god has a GOOD reason for watching rape and other horrible crimes? His ways are not our ways. Something GOOD will come out of these horrors. We cannot fully understand. Why god allows these things is beyond our understandind yet one day we will see the reasoning behind it....when we see him face to face."

Does anyone here get as putrified as I do when believers spout off these braindead reasons?

First of all, I just want to say that I have done LOTS and LOTS of research into the Watchtower's Rape/Screaming Policy, however, I have not yet done much research into what the Bible actually says about this, but I am planning to do so soon, and then I will comment on it here.

    Gumby,

Have you thought about this: if there truly is a God who created all of the Universe -- billions and zillions of galaxies and stars -- wouldn't it be obvious that we humans cannot even begin to understand why God does everything that He does (or does not do)?

Also, I have seen several people on this Board talking about how cruel God was BECAUSE He intervened in the past to destroy wicked people.

So, according to some people, if God does NOT intervene and stop wickedness, He is cruel, and according to other people, if God DOES intervene and stop wickedness, He is cruel.

I have seen some people say that if God intervened, He would do away with their freedom.

Basically -- I do not know why God does all the things He does. I have faith and trust in Him.

I do know that God is not only a God of Love, He is also a God of Justice, Power, Wisdom, Mercy, Holiness and Grace.

I believe that, basically, since Adam and Eve's sin, God has decided to let humans see if they can rule themselves, because that is what Adam and Eve wanted to do -- they wanted to choose for themselves what "good" and "bad" was.

According to the Bible, God has a set time when He is going to intervene once and for all, and destroy all wicked and evil people off the face of the earth, and to reward everyone who believes in Jesus Christ.

UD. Is this the outline for your public talk on Sunday? Certainly, in typical JW fashion you can expand on that to make it stretch the hour.

The WTS once used an example of a parent letting a child go through a painful operation in order to save the child's life.

This was to show why God lets us go through bad things: for our own good. The point was stressed that, as parents, we sometimes let our children take false steps in order to teach them a lesson.

However...........I can't recall the last time I let my child be raped in order to teach her to rely more on my advice (being older and more experienced), that she couldn't "even direct her own steps".

There are methods other than allowing a person to be badly hurt to "teach them a leson"....I wonder why the creator and owner of the Universe can't come up with a better way to show his creations that we can not be independent of him?

A frigging slide show would do in most cases....

Gimme a break. If I used such "lessons" to teach my children, the state would have taken them from me long ago.

    Genuinely perplexed,

Whew...what a read this has been.

LDH: you made some excellent points, and I appreciate you sharing the name of the gentleman (Denmark Veasy). Ya have to wonder now don't you? What happened to those black men, breaks my heart. Damn! the cruelty and religious manipulation of the days of old...grrr!

Big Tex: I can't imagine how one processes god, before/during/after abuse.

JT: great post though, and it does beg the question for those 'bible' believers. And with regards to the variety of court cases with the JWs, makes one wonder now doesn't it?

As for god being cruel. No. (stay with me on this one...ok, here goes)

I still cannot believe that god exists (my opinion), therefor there's no cruel to be blamed. If anything, people who have used 'the Lard' as a means of manipulating the masses, and justifying their actions in his/her name (the Lard). That boils my blood. It's people who are to blame. Factor in god, and well...some of them can get away with murder.

As for Adam & Eve, well...I have always tried to wrap my head around a so-called god that is perfect, creating something perfect (2 persons above mentioned) and then angels (one being portrayed as a serpent...you know the one), and they all sin and become imperfect. I just don't get it....and I don't want to either..ugh!

god isn't very good at creating anything. If he/she can't create perfection, perhaps they are not either. god gets off the hook. Hmm?

    Bizarre.

As for the Time etc., I'm sure I'll be dead and gone, rotting away somewheres. I am not worried about it. When I take my last breath, that's it....over and out...roger! I simply hope I've contributed something positive posthumously.

Best wishes to the believers/unbelievers. Me being the latter.

Yep,what is the sense of screaming out, when noone is around to help. What kind of proof does God need?Oh she screamed,so ok she is off the hook, its not fornication.Baaaahhhh!

Big Tex I feel for you, what a horrible thing to go threw as a baby.

If God wants us to scream while no person can help, then God should intervene......

I think a lot of this rape laws in the bible are man made(of course).
