    metatron,

No one thinks the Society is more warped than me, but let's keep things in reality, shall we? The Society protects themselves too much and has made a quagmire of certain rules, but to say they absolutely "do nothing" about child molesters is a gross exaggeration, period. Nor are the men at the top as bad as you say.

Sorry, it's a big pet peeve of mine when people make outlandish claims about anybody. Keep it real. Know your facts.

    Bradley,

I'm sorry about the way I worded that. They had just as much control over my life as I would like to recall. I am glad you got to have "the real thing". I have a very open mind when it comes to sexual desires. I don't want to get detailed here but I think if you were to examine every sin listed in the bible, having sexual relations with someone you really care about is something I have never been able to view as a "sin". It is a normal human function. Sex is the real reason I got married at 17. My daughter will not ever get trapped like that because I have allowed her to experience this type of thing (responsibly) and now she can look past "the honeymoon" mentality.

You know, I'm beginning to wonder how any JW manages to have anything like a sex life. Grow up reading about making the demons happy on into young adulthood dogged by "is this an offense?" I'd think everybody would have a permanent headache!

Caspian, thanks for the 'clarification'......you've been giving us some good 'insider' info lately.

You may remember some time ago it was reported about the society classing masturbation whilst on the telephone or computer as loose conduct a judicial offence .

Would this include masturbating while telephone Witnessing?

Mary, this could depend on what one was talking about. For example, if reading some passages from the Song Of Solomon, yes, it would be understandable that one might be induced to gratify oneself while witnessing on the phone.

After reading Bradley's experience, I well remember how a "new" point would be made at a School in dealing with "sinners". One moment we SHOULD exercise love and mercy to an erring one. The next meeting we hear how WE misunderstood what we heard. We must treat the persons firmly and with judgment. Forget about showing mercy......TERRIBLE ISN'T IT???

The CO even added a little of his own thoughts after he read the official statement by saying that he couldn't fathom "how any man could do such a despicable thing." Very loving man, indeed.

    I can. LOL

This thread just reminded me of something that happened to an old JW friend of mine.

I cannot remember all the details but this is basically what happened.

My friend was calling this guy on the phone and having phone sex with him. (If I recall correctly she called a random number and it was a pager#) It went on for a week or two. It turned out that while the two were talking the guy realized who she was. They were both in the same congregation. Oh MY GOD!!!! How freaky is that!!!

Well my friend was freaked out. The brother started feeling guilty and decided to talk to the elders.

I want to say he was an Elder in the congregation but I am not 100% sure.

He was silently reproved and lost all privileges. She was already on reproof for other crazy behavior. She never got DF'd because her mother was married to the PO and that just wouldn't look right for her step-dad.
