    Jessica,

I didn't take your wording to offense at all. Actually, in retrospect, I agree that the whole thing is insane. I say things that would offend people all the time. I appreciated your comments

if reading some passages from the Song Of Solomon, yes, it would be understandable that one might be induced to gratify oneself while witnessing on the phone.

Is that the one telling men to let their wife's boobs intoxicate them? Geeze, what about the verses in Levitucus 24 that gives some pretty graphic detail about the emissions of semen................I remember one elder quoted a really good scripture on masturbation......."do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing." yaaaaaa baby!!!

You are right, it is an exaggeration to say that the society has done nothing about elders who have covered up child abuse.

In fact, they have aggresively protected them, and instead gone after the victims. This is not stretching the truth; I am very close to someone who sued them and they have lied, lied, lied about all facts of the case. They started by denying that the congregations recieve any direction from NY; they denied that the congregations support the HQ; they denied that the JC's decide cases based on the society's direction; they denied that the victim was ever a witness; they denied that any meetings ever were held regarding the abuse. Every response to the lawsuit denied facts that any witness would have to swear to in court, but not so the men in Brooklyn. They apparently are free to use whatever tactic they wish to get out of paying damages to victims.

Philip Brumley, representing the WT side, wrote a letter to the producer of CBS news stating the "facts" of the case. His source? The abuser. It is the same tactic they used in the Paul Berry case; they take the side of the abuser, and not the victim. They believe everything the abuser says, and nothing of the victim.

So; true, we can't say the society has done nothing about abusers and the elders who protect them. In fact, they have gone out of their way to defend them in court and in the media, and have collected money from us to pay for it.
