My JW Husband Got a "Privilege" Back - UGH!

WG, it is aggravating what they are making your hubby go through, and now that he's been reinstated he wants to please the elders (one becoems a men-pleaser all too often in the jw religion). The fact is, their "restrictions" notion doesn't even have scriptural support, and lifting them one at a time with your husband having to request it is, as you said, prolonging the agony. When I was an elder, we normally gave all privilages back at once with perhaps just a short wait. Either things have changed proceedurally or his elders are being very heavy-handed.

It is a good thing you are so strong minded, or those idiots would have a feild day.
It must be very difficult to be married to someone so vastly different than yourself.
Kudos to you for holding your own, and I hope your hubby wises up

(((Worldlygirl))) - I admire and respect your stand.
GOOD FOR YOU!!! I am so proud of you. Also, not being a 'submissive wife' - like...where can I send you a vomit bag? You know? Geez!
Despite the anger I know this frustrates you to levels beyond conceivable range. Too bad your husband has this mindset: be glad that you do not.
Wish we could send you a care basket full of goodies, just for you! A bottle of CC (Canadian Club whiskey) from ol' Rayzorblade.
Hang in there!

You have to ask to get priviledges back after being reinstated? I never heard about thios one before! So as well as having to brownnose to get reinstated, you then have to lick their shoes again and again to get 'priviledges' back? Is this another committee each time or just a chat? And what sort of restrictions can be placed anyway?

Maybe he can have the privleage of cleaning the urinals sometime soon!

That was my favorite part of my private reproof, not having those "privileges". I hated answering. I always felt like I sounded like such a dork. The questions were so specific there was often very little room to do anything but quote from the paragraph. I felt like I was a moron reading right out of the paragraph, but in truth, that's what everybody did. If I didn't answer, my parents gave me a hard time. During my reproof, I got a pass for a few months. Loved it!
I never heard of asking for privileges back. In fact, I never asked to be taken off of private reproof. They just did it one day. And with it, all my "privileges" came back. They started by calling on me at the book study to say the prayer.

Do people misspell "privilege" on purpose?

Sheila, I also misspell that word. But I notice people regularly put a "d" there and often wondered whether this was done on purpose.....You didn't have to give me another shot.......btw, did you find your dog yet?
