If you feel the board needs some meat (and I agree by the way that it does) perhaps you could give us a list of subjects or issues you feel need to be addressed. Or even start a thread on one of them.

I feel I've already done that.

Also, I sympathize with those undergoing personal emotional damage because of leaving the WT. I've been there. I have no problem with people sharing their emotions on that (as long as it's balanced). But, I do have a problem with emotionalized, under-thought lashing out against the JWs.

How Can We Hurt Somebody Today???......Personally, I don't think that I ask stupid questions (GENERALLY)......But I do think that some persons come on here and emotionally attach themselves to this board and/or the people on the board. Many that do come here have found (for them ) a real haven. They feel that they have bonded and emotionally gotten closer to people for the first time. From my vantage point, I think this is fun. If I get bored or dissatisfied with it, I'll probably post very little. But, I do know of many that ask questions that they feel are important for whatever reasons. To make them feel stupid is unkind and unnecessary. And I KNOW that this has happened. If certain posters gravitate toward "mind dumbing" questions or posts, should we regulate that too?

I think some posters do the best they can do.......and there are those who really don't think BEFORE they ask. Sometimes all it takes is a few minutes of re-search to find out answer(s) to your own question(s) and it's easy to get lazy and just ask the group. Sometimes it's OK to be a bit lazy and ask, but I've seen some issues that are really to silly to ask when you could look it up yourself.

Excellent point minimus...personally I am tired of the people who think they are smarter or deeper than others.....and who try to make other people feel bad..we got enough of that at the meetings THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

Personally I enjoyed the massage thread (although I am probably considered a brainless slut by most of the freaking snobs on this board and my opinion doesn't count)..personally I have been in quite a few different halls in the 30 some odd years I spent as a dub...pioneer and as a MS's wife...color me unknowing of what goes on ...and I found different halls had different personalities and what was acceptable in one wasn't it another...it was interesting to see the different responses...

Why don't you quit trying to stuff everyone into your square hole and just let us ALL enjoy what we like......try it sometime, it's not that hard.

I wasn't at all refering to the questions that Minimus asks or any of the other "fun" ones....

only to the ones that are presented as "serious" questions about JWs .... like this...

It just gives them something to validate their "sympathy trip".

Give it three days, and my (elder) father will be calling me, saying.."see how they misunderstand us... somebody said we all do handstands in the parking lot.... how sad that the world slanders us"

You know one of the great things about not being a JW anymore? Being able to ask questions...

But you know what if you are looking for people to perform like trained seals for JW's peering in corners looking for "evil" apostates...then I guess I am posting at the wrong board....duh huh?

I don't think your brainless at all .....but I do have to say I think your a slut!

People who think because they don't answer deep questions of others, or write fancy speeches that sound "real smart", are somehow viewed by others as less inteligent are wrong. Being "brainy" on many subjects and speaking well is only a couple of gifts. People all have different strong points that the brainy ones lack and many times these ones go unoticed because brainy people are more impressive. A good singer can be dumb as a stick yet have many admirers who speak the world of them.

Wellll Gumby looking at this thread they apparently ARE viewed that way by some....

You know what...a lot of us lost opportunities because of being dubs...we didn't get degrees.....and now we are struggling to adjust to a new life without a support system...we come here and get trashed by these "intellectuals"...and personally I think it stinks.

I would rather be a brainless slut than a coldhearted asshole who cares more about people who MIGHT be lurking than for the people who are ACTUALLY posting here..
