Religion, religion, religion. Pamkw, you are quite right that the WTBTS wishes to divorce themselves from the great unwashed masses, AND Christendom's churches, AND tradition-bound RELIGIONS. I use the word deliberately. If the WTBTS is not a RELIGION, then it surely is a CULT.
This is how they describe the rest of us, this week's study, "They [anointed Christians] are no longer identified with the sea of humanity alienated from God..." WT June 1, 2003, page 1, para 13.
You have the right to do ANYTHING you want on this board ... it would be 'nice' if the name didn't say 'Forum FOR Jehovah's Witnesses' though.
There is an honourable way to leave ... no one here has found the way yet.
For the number of JWs still going strong the ones here is but a handful, so mabye most of you are just pitiful whiners who should accept a little personal responsibility for your lives and quit trying so hard to BLAME someone or something.
Perhaps, this is the best "forum for Jehovah's Witnesses" that is available at this time. Jehovah's Witnesses have a very narrow view that is controlled primarily by the organization. But sites like this opens up a window of various and divergent views that one will not hear at the Kingdom Hall. And this is why the Watchtower Society has discouraged its members from using these sources.
Whenever one considers the information or comments, it is important to "winnow" out the meaningless or trite and concentrate on what is important and insightful. There are things to be learned by those who have been active JWs and who, for some reason, left the organization. There are many of us who still respect and love Jehovah's Witnesses.
I think some people actually need the discipline and structure of a religious organization...even the Watchtower. But one should also consider the cost. For one to be a Jehovah's Witness in good standing, one has to obey those rules that separate friends and families. One has to seriously consider whether or not this is a Christian way of life.
