    Hello Waiting,

**** I didn't know about the WT paying to school their own lawyers at that time. Hypocrites.****

My nephew was one of these.......he now enjoy's flying all around the world, as the Societies 'human rights' advocate.

He (my nephew) has the looks, the personality, that the wtbs elite wanted to use for their own self agrondizing needs. Yeah do as we say...............the jw rank and file are played for real shmucks.

i talked to my mom abt how i left high school at 14, even though i had 'great expectations'. she said 'it was yr choice'. i said 'excuse me, mom, but do you really think that it was my choice. i was 14, you taught me that the world was ending in 1975 and i WAS A CHILD'. it was hard for her to swallow.

the WTBTS deprived a lot of us (at least IMHO that was the experience in the 70's) of our education and the means to be financially secure. now (some of us) have to work double hard to overcome it. that is the least of it.

(and that's ok, cause now I'M FREE!!!)

good thread. it's great to hear acknowledgement of my feelings and thoughts on this from other ex-jw's. finally after all these years.

These service meeting parts always came out fall when kids were going back to school. after all, had to get the seniors thinking of life after highschool. And in school now days kids are expected to go to college, so jw kids stick out even more for not going on to some kind of schooling. I remember wanted to go to college and having it pounded into my brain during my senior year that I wanted to pioneer now that I was done with learning. Is anyone ever done with learning? Now I go to college on and off, when I can afford it. But it is not the same. So glad I could give my own sons more choices.

all the post on this thread are so on target in terms of how the wt plays the education card

what is most interesting as one poster stated about their mom, is the denial that jw go into when this issue is brought up

it is one thing for a New jw to defend this stuff since THEY WERE NOT THERE, but it is truly sad as you listen to jw who LIVED IT start to deny any of this type of mindset to reject college was ever done

for we all recall the dramas, talks, co , do visit , and comments on the issue of college and they WERE NEVER POSITIVE

keeping jw dumb and uneducated has always and continues to be the goal of the society

I don't remember the topic of the very last Watchtower study I went to, but one of the great truths (*gag*) the article mentioned was that, back in the day, people like me didn't go to college because our consciences didn't allow it; people didn't join the military because their consciences wouldn't allow it; that people didn't vote because their consciences wouldn't allow it.

I got so mad that I left and went on parking lot patrol. Had I stayed in the hall, I am certain that I would have blurted out something that I would have regretted. It was bad enough that the magazine told the lie it did. What made it worse was the nods and comments of "yeah, that's right" made by those that surely knew better.

It was the last meeting I went to.

" All their silver and gold will be thrown in the streets."

That was a famous scripture that was used to all who were storing up "earthly treasures".

I remember a brother purchasing some retirement land during the 75' fiasco and in the service car group the C.O. saying" I guess he doesn't feel Armageddons here. A lot of good that will do him then".

That was the attitude of any who planned too far ahead. They were weak.

I also never recall any being appointed who went to college though I'm sure there were some.

The key to remember here is that the J-dud Masters DO NOT CARE about you, only about themselves. If the odds are that your going to college, or good job will take their power over you away...they are aganist it! Anything that they can not use, they are against! The poorer, dumber, and more dependant you are, the greater control the duds maintain over you. "It's your personal choice." is the same as a used car dealer telling you,"You can trust me on this!" If you are a young person, you also need to face the fact that you will never grow old in this present system of things. Why not? Because all the evidence in fulfillment of Bible prophecy indicates that this corrupt system is due to end in a few years.

I guess "a few years" is to these guys, as a thousand years is to us eh?

If you are in high school and thinking about a college education, it means at least four, perhaps even six or eight more years to graduate into a specialized career. But where will this system of things be by that time? It will be well on the way towards its finish, if not actually gone!

Really? Wow! I guess that's a really big hologram I see every morning when I get up; It can't be this System of Things; that's long gone!

    Mary,

Lmao on the 'hologram' comment. No matter how they try, they will never be able to hide the evidence......
