In early 2015 a brother made the statement that we do not use tablets etc for ministry and meetings because the society does not encorage it. He was directly corrected by the watchtower conductor that this was a wrong conclusion.

What is correct can be wrong within a day, just like Orwell.

Back in the day, I heard an elder telling the congregation that we shouldn’t watch The Simpsons... (bad and corrupting “association”)...

I remember in the 1990s a speaker in a circuit assembley telling us that the band Oasis are not for Christians.

Also another elder claimed Lord Of The Rings was Satanic.

That was all my parents needed to hear. It may as well have been said by God himself

Yes I also heard the "don't use text messages " talk from the assembly platform and also that the band oasis were banned. Harry potter too. As well as a certain style of women's business dress popular in the 80s

There was a CO in the early 2000s that even the elders called crazy. He spouted from the platform that pubs are not for Gods people. The uber-dub JW women agreed with him and used it as an excuse to approach younger ones an JW men they knew who went to pubs.

Doesnt it just show how many of them dont think for themselves and will allow some nobody on the platform to override their own thinking?

This experience wasn't from the platform - but an elder's wife told my mom when I was a young boy that she and her husband wouldn't go see the movie " The Sound of Music " because it had Catholic's in it. This was in the 1960's. My mom told this elders wife that her opinion was ridiculous and that she would see the movie as it didn't bother my mom one bit. My mom was such a kick ass lady- I really miss her. She stood up for her personal rights constantly. And she stood up for my rights all the way to the end of her life. Hell of a mom she was

A friend and I were trying to get a group together to see a play of Mary Poppins. We got dragged into the back room because Mary Poppins is a witch and we were promoting demonism.

There was a DO who's name was Hans Hubler (I have mentioned him in the past and I'm sure there will be others from Oceania who know him). The guy was a total obnoxious and absolute prat. I'm surprised that wt didnt remove him - thats how bad he was. This guy gave his personal opinions by naming and shaming women with crying babies out of the assemblies and kh when he was giving talks.

There was a close 2nd to ol Hans who was an elder. He had the nick name Charles the hit man Glendening. I think that about sums it up.

One elder said that 'Some forms of kissing can be considered fornication.' It was corrected from the podium by another brother about a week later. Big drama about this at the hall.

Also, that sisters shouldn't wear any shirts with writing on them. Jehovah was okay with shirts that had pictures of things.-animals, flowers, etc. But, Jehovah was highly offended it it had writing on it.
