According to one JW there can only be 1 of 3 reasons why you left.

I left for almost the same reason as Pistoff. It was totally over the Child abuse policy or I should say lack of care for children.

I have never done anything wrong that would remotely qualify for me to be df'ed through I have been threatened because I will not accept the elders love of pedophiles.

I left because someone offered me drugs, and of course I said yes...because drugs are expensive and if someone offers you them to you then you must say yes.

In all seriousness, I left because they are as honest and truthful as a 3 dollar bill. Their failed prophecies and nonsense woke me up.

The complete lack of love drove us out. Once we were out, we learned TTATT. So the lack of love and the hypocrisy lead us out and TTATT is keeping us out. NEVER to return!

I have dissociated myself after four full decades for the simple reason that I have realized that the elders and those more above them are the spitting image of the pharisees of the first century C.E.

"What category do you fall under?" - Bonsai

    NONE OF THE ABOVE!

Those three 'reasons' are ignorant pigeon-holing and labeling from an ill informed, self-righteous, mind controlled, God deluded religious zealot.

I don't have the time to list all my reasons, but I guarantee you that none of those three items were on that list.

And he knows this how? How many XJW's has he talked to on this subject? Has he done a statistical analysis? I've never once had an active JW ask me why I left, I assume because they aren't supposed to talk to me at all. That policy means that no JW can possibly know why we left.

    Hi Bonsai,

When you next talk to your old friend show him this......

I am a 60 year old female - I have no desire to do anything immoral by biblical standards.

I have not been stumbled by anyone in the sense of my pride being hurt, but after nearly 25 years I have been disturbed to the point that I had to face my hurt conscience and ultimately I was pushed to walk away from a group of people who have difficulty being honest in spiritual matters, use manipulative language amongst themselves and to non witnesses as a matter of form and who follow men who appear to use 'Gods word' with a lack of respect which is breathtaking, turning scripture to suit the whim of the day without due consideration for the conscience and faith of their listeners.

I left an environment which was my home - lost a 'life' of friendships and have had to rebuild my world at a later stage in my life.

    It's not been 'cosy'

Would your friend like to consider the three main reasons people stay as cult members? I don't think so.

This is a typical cult minded response and reveals a lot of pride on his part . He is saying that no decent person could ever honestly disagree with Me over My choice of religion , because if I say it is the truth, then it is - period. Only a fool or a wicked person would want to leave.

Actually that is the gist of that brochure they printed for the inactive . If you have gone then there is something about you- Anxiety, depression, falling with someone etc.

I can honestly say that I only left because I got to realize that:

    1) the people of "the world" that I knew through work were just ordinary hardworking family minded folk and I could not see that any God worth worshipping would slaughter them like beasts ,just because they had not joined the WTS

    2) Time was marching on, they had already changed the generation explanation of Matt 24 once, I could not see how an "end of days" prophecy movement could span 3 centuries . When we approached the last millennium I knew something was amiss.

I had some problems with the congregation as it happened but that would not have shaken my faith in God or the worldwide movement.

In my case it was the egotism of calling themselves "The Truth". Also, their worship of the "faithful and discrete slave". I was a celibate so the "get out and fornicate" excuse did not play a part. Neither was the 'stumbling' issue.

I simply felt very anxious about the mere fact that I was there. I even had anxiety attacks while out in field service.
