That is my belief, Cofty.
I'm not going there with you again.
Your beliefs belong to a previous age of ignorance and racism.
no they do not how can u say that cofty - you were inspired by the bible for most of your life
nor am I going to be drawn into a discussion about who actually is ignorant and racist
no they do not how can u say that cofty - Ruby
The dogma that black people descend from one of Noah's sons and that they are under the divine curse of Ham is ignorant and racist.
you were inspired by the bible for most of your life - Ruby
Yes I was brainwashed from infancy. What's your point?
snowbird does not see it that way as she understands that the Hamites had held sway over the area before they were deposed. (Tehre is plenty of art to show this). Then in the deposed language of those who had been conquered but who were trying gain the upper hand the Hamites were accursed.
you just want to start a war - before you do this you need to check your facts!!!!!!!
Snowbird has stated in this thread twice that she believes black people descend from Ham son of Noah and have suffered accordingly for his curse.
It's religious bullshit that has been used to justify systemic racism for centuries.
at the same time that these texts were being used to justify racism there were plenty of people around who fought against these ideas saying that the texts did not justify racism.
its people at the end of day who want to be racist and they will be so whatever you might want to say to them they won't change cos they think this is great I am rich!!!
edit: it is human greed that feeds into racism
I am a Black person.
I am not ignorant - or racist.
I believe SOMETHING happened in the past that makes life harder for us than other groups.
The Bible and other sacred texts tell us that it stemmed from Ham's disrespect toward his father, Noah, and by extension, God.
It was foretold by God, through Noah, that Ham would be in subjection to Shem and Japheth.
Ham, Cush, Mitzraim, and Canaan tried to give lie to this prophecy, but to no avail.
What Noah prophesied is still being played out on a global scale.
there were plenty of people around who fought against these ideas - Ruby
So what? I'm addressing Snowbird who is perpetuating this bullshit under the guise of faith.
If I said that black people were under a curse you would rightly condemn my words as prejudicial. If somebody says that this is their religious belief you make excuses for it. This is hypocritical.
I am a Black person. - Snowbird
So?
I am not ignorant - or racist.
Everything that follows in your post is based on ignorance of history and anthropology and is profoundly racist. I didn't say you were a racist. I said your beliefs regarding race are.
In particular Muslims use this ridiculous belief in the curse of Ham to justify racism. It is bizarre to see it perpetuated by a black person.
