    Hey there,

I have an apologetics website, and I've recently posted three articles on JW doctrine. I was wondering if you all could make suggestions to improve them, or for new content. Please let me know what you think.

It's a Roman Catholic website. I will not argue about Catholic doctrine on this forum. (If you want to do that you can shoot me an email through my site.) I'm just posting here for insight into the Jehovah's Witnesses and advice on discussing doctrine with them.

Here are the links to the JW articles I wrote:

Your article on pray-to-jesus was good. It was short and to the point, and I love how you were able to prove your points using the JW Bible.

So your mission is to convince JWs that the Roman Catholic church is closer to the bible than the Watchtower and you would like our help to critique your arguments, but you won't entertain criticisms of the beliefs you are defending. How is that intellectually honest?

Attempting to convince a JW that Jesus is Jehovah is an impossible task. It also depends on selective use of the data.

It is far more reasonable to try to demonstrate that their conception of Jesus does not align with that of early christians...

    Leveltheplayingfield, thanks for the compliment!

Cofty, thanks for your response! My website is geared toward Catholics to explain their faith intelligibly, in this case, to JWs. If that leads them to Catholicism, so be it. If you have a criticism of an argument or statement I make in an article on JW doctrine that is perfectly fine. It's just not my point posting here to try and debate Catholic doctrine. It's a JW site, not a Catholic one. I'm not looking to argue with anyone over transubstantiation on this forum, lol. I was actually trying to be respectful of the nature of this forum, not to be intellectually dishonest. I hope you understand where I'm coming from now.

I will read your link in more detail later. In my mind, Jehovah or Yahweh refers to "I am who I am" or however you translate it, which refers to God as the source of all being. For a Catholic, this is an appropriate designation of any person of the Trinity, which may be why you say it requires a selective reading of the evidence. I recognize it is predominately used to refer to the Father.

Greetings Salutaris! This is an EX JW forum. 99% of the people that post or visit are JW's who have exited the religion for a variety of reasons....... Or are waiting to fade with their families intact.

This forum would be considered an apostate site and a beliving JW would immediately leave it as apostates are considered to be 'mentally diseased'.

As a Catholic or even an exiting JW discussing JW doctrines with a believing JW is virtually impossible. As most are poorly educated in what they believe or simply uninterested in anything that does not meet the standards of the Society. You will simply be referred to the Society's publications.

About the only thing a JW has in common with the Catholic Church is a pedophile problem.

However I do recommend that you visit jwfacts.com which is also an ex JW site which uses the WT's own publications to show an exiting JW what doctrines have changed (flip flops), what predictions have failed (all of them) and so forth. Any questions you have concerning what JW's believe will be found there. However be sure to check the due date on the belief as it might have expired.

That's exactly why I posted here. You would know what would "wake" them up or cause them to think for themselves better than I would. I realize that is a tall order, but I have a personal reason for my recent interest in JWs. I'm sure that everyone is different, and I appreciate the value of other people's personal experiences and perspectives.

Yes. Any mention of the Roman Catholic church will be met with howls of derision.

The only thing they like about your religion is that it makes their history of covering up child abuse look less vile.

In my very limited experience that hasn't been the case. So far, the two witnesses I know have treated me with respect, and commended me for being knowledgeable about the bible. I do my best to be gentle and respectful in conversation with them. But yes, their literature makes it very clear what the organization thinks of the Catholic Church.

Salutaris Greetings! We have some folk of the RCC faith on the board. I would suggest 'bumping' the topic later in the day, as it is an international forum, so time zones play into account. If your thread has not been commented on for a while, you can just post "BTT" (back to the top) as a comment, and the thread will be brought forward.

Welcome to the forum, by the way. : ) I am not a believer myself.

It's great that you are seeking to put truthful argument on your site, which is the opposite of the JWS. I haven't read the articles yet, but will. Through the years, I've had many RCC friends (my room mate is technically RCC, but because of his own experience with priest abuse, he hates the Church - you can understand that), and I may be able to give you constructive comments.

Later! And I suggest you use the Search engine (located at the top of your screen) to locate older threads on the topic. It's great to see people of other faiths learning the real truth about the Jehovah's Witness organization. If your site steers ONE person away from the cult of JW, it is gold to me!

Good hunting, and I'll read your links later today. x tal

I definitely understand that. Personally I'd like to see the death penalty for those "clerics." Or at least have them castrated, like Pope St. Pius V had done to them.
