I can see them putting in a half-hearted attempt at security causing some to think the end is even nigher.
Eh what's that I hear is that the sound of the ark door creaking shut I better run back now - lol.

We have seen what has happened when ignorant elders are put in charge of peoples lives; this will not bode well.
This is exactly why it's AWESOME. Keep it culty, wts! That's how we prevent the innocents from ever joining.
Two things. One, there is definitely a ramp up of attendant count and presence at conventions for 2017. This is part of the branch office direction for conventions. Second, whether actual searches take place is dependent on the contract for the venue. Some venues require these searches, and whether they are conducted by the attendants or venue security is entirely a function of what is agreed on with the venue in the contract.
EDIT: Most US venues will not have bag or other searches going on. Only where the venue actually requires it.

This will move more and more people to try to follow "webcast" program...
The attendants will ask the visitors to open their bag and just look into it, don't open it by themself or touch it.
Expect long lines. Purses, coolers (for lunch), briefcases/bookbags (or do they all just take ipads now?) all to be checked? I suppose as long as you are wearing your JW lapel badge, it will all be just for appearances. However, let anyone with a beard or tight pants try to enter -- prepare to receive a more diligent search procedure!
In the UK the front line and entrance attendants are required to be SIA certified this year. These are trained security personnel and approved by the police/government. There are lots of brothers, mainly Eastern European, who have this registration.
Last year excel exhibition for the RC was full of SIA attendant. Apparently someone went on stage, and these were the only attendants allowed to remove him
If they can not provide these people, then they have to ask the venue to hire them.
The good thing, is most SIA certified will have liability insurance, so if something goes wrong, WBTS will not have to for fork out any money. The insurance will pay.
If this security initiative is as high-powered as suggested here, it would require a major upskilling in security-force management. Of course they have a perfect right to search before entry with refusals ordered out.
But this would be a major change, especially if a search revealed devices for detonation. You'd need experts to handle this.
Does anyone have any JW-organization communications to convention organisers and relevant bodies of elders on this? It would seem odd if such a major security change were implemented without some form of written directives for clarity and as a means of quality control .
Some organizations hire professional security services so they don't have to worry about the countless details involved in ensuring public safety.
I wonder what would happen if a person had any apostate book in their book bag like from Ray Franz or something would they be refused entry?
Or the latest issue of Penthouse?
