Interesting comments above. Personally, I believe that this is just window dressing for the public, strategy to stave off any media accusations of homophobia . The more "In-house" comments of Anthony Morris are more typical of how they think.
Certainly, if they were to become more gay-friendly they would lose the support of the generation of dubs my age , who have been conditioned to abhor such ones over many decades. I suspect that some may even be offended by this demo, viewing it as 'going soft' on sin.
The article referred to "Theocratic warfare " . This concept was born in the 1950's due to intense persecution in the Eastern Block of Nations and when memories were fresh of WW2 Nazi Germany. The situation is hardly the same today in the West. The Watchtower at the time described it's limited permitted use.

45 We dare not lie against God’s Word, adding to it or taking away from it, reading into it what it does not say and denying, passing over or explaining away what it does truthfully say.
So, when Witness Hannah says "the Bible says that we should respect ALL people, regardless of their sexual preference." Is that a truth or a lie?....then It’s the same with out differing views of homosexuality. Everybody has the right to choose"
I think not.
Interestingly, we have applied the term "strategy" to G Jackson's testimony before the A.R.C. as have some dub apologists . That Watchtower article said:
46 Never swear falsely in Jehovah’s name. Jehovah declares that at his temple he will be a “swift witness against . . . the false swearers.” (Mal. 3:5, AS) Never take an oath in his name and then tell lies as a sworn witness....
We all saw him swear on his silver bound NWT Bible . Was God pleased that day?
