Inquiry Thank you for your response. You ask some "good" questions, but I am easily impressed. Now what did God mean in Psalm 14 when he states "there is none that doith good, no not one"? There are a couple of ways to go on this. 1) One thing to keep in mind as we examine this passage, is that we, as sinful men, have a much different ideal of what good is, then God does. He is much more qualified to judge! 2) The other thing to keep in mind is, just because a nonbeliever does manage to do good things, this does not mean that God is not the cause or the sorce. Examples: (Joseph's brothers sold him into slavery) And Joseph says in Genesis 50: 20 "ye thought evil against me, but God meant it for good" God can use anyone or anything to do his will. In Numbers 22 God uses a donkey! Romans 8: 28 All things work together for good... D Dog

then all atheists, agnostics, pagans, heathens, etc. are obviously not at fault.
Man is always at fault for his sin.
that God shows partiality
I agree! Romans 9: 11 (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;) Verse 13...Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.
and condems people to death through no fault of their own.
When you find one with no sin you may have a point!

DD,
My point was, that you said "without God, we cannot know God". So, if he doesn't choose to show himself to those who don't believe in him, how can it be their fault? Nothing to do with sin, everything to do with a person "knowing God"

Deputy Dog, Cute name sweetie. I hope you'll have plenty of good threads and postings here. There are several folks on this forum who have never been jw's but have been/are married to dubs. I think you'll really enjoy the fellowship, but one thing you need to know is that if you make blanket statements someone will call you on them. Think of it as a good mental excercise for your faith. Oh BTW Mark Twain said something about this: "Faith is believing what you know ain't so."

I hate it when a Christian opens his mouth an reveals just how arrogant and intolerant a Christian can be... it makes all the rest look real bad.
I don't see how posting a few Bible verses makes anyone look bad, or how it shows arrogance or intolerance. This is after all under the heading: Bible Research & Study Articles is it not! D Dog

Well, that's just peachy! God, in his all seeing power, judges everyone with the same narrow, Christian brush. How convenient for Christians! What a loving, murderous God!

My point was, that you said "without God, we cannot know God".
Can you show me a quote? I refered to Romans 3:11 which states " There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.
So, if he doesn't choose to show himself to those who don't believe in him, how can it be their fault?
Just like Adam, they choose to sin. Sin is thier "fault" not God's, God did not sin. God has no "fault"
Read Romans 3 for yourself, particularly verses 9 through the end of the chapter.
Hope this helps

1) We can not seek God. Romans 3:11 ... 3) We can not come to Christ. John 6:44, 65 4) We can not hear his word. John 8:43,47 5) We can not receive the Comforter or Spirit of truth. John 14:17 6) We can not receive the teaching of the Holy Ghost. 1Corinthians 2:14 7) We can not submit to God's law. Romans 8:7 8) We can not please God. Romans 8:8 9) We can not cease from sin. Romans 7:19 10) We can not say that Jesus is the Lord. 1Corinthians 12:3
It may have escaped your attention, but all the above only have relevance if your god really exists. Of course, without "God" we can't hear "God"'s word or submit to his law. Without the Invisible Pink Unicorn, we can't give praise to the Invisible Pink Unicorn. Do you have any idea how inane that sounds? The only point you made which could be argued is:
2) We can not do good. Romans 3:12 Psalm 14:3
I'm an atheist. I do good things without believing in your god or any others. It appears that you are wrong on this point. Now, if you have anything approaching an argument has to why people can't do good without your sky-god, then please make it. Please note: quotes from your holy book do not count as a valid argument.

Sorry to hear you're an atheist. But I have good news for you, my God can do "good" even through you! And it does not matter if you believe in Him or not. So the next time you do good and you take the credit for it, remember, this might be the only grace you receive.
Also you may think you are doing good in your eyes or someone elses, but doing good in God's eyes may be harder then you think!
