    Heres some more wonderful gems of the loving God of the OT.

    The only thing he left out for a reason ta kill ya was fartin,

    Some of the acts for which the good book demands summary execution include:

    striking or cursing your parents (Exodus 21.15,17);

    "And he that smiteth his father, or his mother, shall be surely put to death... And he that curseth his father, or his mother, shall surely be put to death."

    being a gluttonous or drunken son (Deuteronomy 21.20,21);

    "And they shall say unto the elders of his city, This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton, and a drunkard. And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die."

    being a false prophet and following another religion (Deuteronomy 13.5,9);

    "And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death... Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him: But thou shalt surely kill him;

    kindling a fire (or any other work) on the sabbath (Exodus 35.2,31.14);

    "Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day there shall be to you an holy day, a sabbath of rest to the LORD: whosoever doeth work therein shall be put to death."

    sex with a beast (Exodus 22.19);

    "Whosoever lieth with a beast shall surely be put to death."

    passing yourself off as a virgin bride when you’re not (Deuteronomy 22.20,21);

    "But if this thing be true, and the tokens of virginity be not found for the damsel: Then they shall bring out the damsel to the door of her father’s house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she die."

    approaching a holy candlestick (Numbers 18.3);

    "And they shall keep thy charge, and the charge of all the tabernacle: only they shall not come nigh the vessels of the sanctuary and the altar, that neither they, nor ye also, die."

    failing to listen to a priest (Deuteronomy 17.12);

    "And the man that will do presumptuously, and will not hearken unto the priest that standeth to minister there before the LORD thy God, or unto the judge, even that man shall die: and thou shalt put away the evil from Israel."

    being a witch (Exodus 22.18);

    "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live."

    being a rape victim but not crying out loud enough (Deuteronomy 22.23,24);

    "If a damsel that is a virgin be betrothed unto an husband, and a man find her in the city, and lie with her; Then ye shall bring them both out unto the gate of that city, and ye shall stone them with stones that they die; the damsel, because she cried not, being in the city;"

    being a homosexual (Leviticus 20.13);

    "If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them."

    enjoying a threesome with your wife and mother-in-law (Leviticus 20.14);

    "And if a man take a wife and her mother, it is wickedness: they shall be burnt with fire, both he and they; that there be no wickedness among you."

    uttering Yahweh’s (secret) name! (Leviticus 24. 13,16).

    "And he that blasphemeth the name of the Lord, he shall surely be put to death, and all the congregation shall certainly stone him:"

    sex during menstruation (Leviticus 20: 18)

    "And if a man shall lie with a woman having her sickness, and shall uncover her nakedness; he hath discovered her fountain, and she hath uncovered the fountain of her blood: and both of them shall be cut off from among their people."

    On the other hand, bringing about a slave’s death by beating with a stick – so long as he lingers ‘for a day or two’does not require punishment! (Exodus 21.20,21).

    "And if a man smite his servant, or his maid, with a rod, and he die under his hand; he shall be surely punished. Notwithstanding, if he continue a day or two, he shall not be punished: for he is his money."

    Contrast this with the summary execution required for selling a stolen slave (Exodus 21.16)!

    "And he that stealeth a man, and selleth him, or if he be found in his hand, he shall surely be put to death."

    Bible says:

    "God is a God of love."

    Bible says:

    "Love is not jealous."

    Bible says:

    "I your God, an a jealous God."

    I say: it's all bullshit. I dare any true believer to reconcile these obviously contradictory verses. I'm waiting........

    The writers of the bible were inspired.

    The editors, however, were drunk.

    Good one!

    Here is my problem--if God is good...why did he create evil in the first place? And I don't want that free-will crap...we can still have a free-will but just be free from evil if we never knew of it's existance.

    Joannadandy - I have often pondered that myself. I've always felt God is playing a huge, contradicting game with mankind.

    Keep waiting, Farkel. It makes no sense to me, either. God can be jealous, but is not jealous. Make sense?

    Just close your ears, and bash your head with a hammer. It will make sense. If it still does not, keep bashing your head until it does. Worked for me.

    Hey Gumby,

    May you have peace!

    I am directed to remind you that.. "we are not under Law, we are under UNdeserved kindness." Therefore, the Law does not apply to us. We have a 'new' law written on our hearts (Jeremiah 31:31-34).

    Dearest Joannadandy,

    God did not create evil. There was evil in the beginning before Satan was created. It is mentioned in Genesis 1:1-3. In the beginning there was Darkness. The Darkness was there and so God said "Let there be light" and there came to be light. When God saw that the Light was good, he put a DIVISION between the light and the darkness. He put a division because the light was good, but the darkness was not. The Darkness was evil and so the light opposed him. When the 'anointed cherub' was covering, he too was made without flaw. But he loved his beauty and wanted the rewards of Darkness and forsook his own proper "dwelling place" to work for the Darkness and to feed 'his will.' In time, that anointed cherub became our Adversary because he has declared war solely against the 'seed' (us). He wants us to die so that he may consume all and so all those who oppose the Adversary and want to live will be fought against.

    kes,

    who is this 'Darkness' that would have 'his will' fed by Satan?

    Hi Farkel-guy! Howzit? I'm about ready to start my singing career FINALLLY!!! The net is so great....I can record some things and put them on a webpage. I'll let you know when I get it up!!!

    Now, not that it would matter a fiddle to you what my opinion on this is, just how I handle this...

    This is an issue of make an out of context comparison. Like in one place it says there is only one god and in another there are many gods. Is that a contradiction? It is not generally thought to be when you consider the context. The Bible also says there is only one "Lord" but God is called "Lord" as well.

    So in this case I would think the same would apply. I thought I understood the reference and never thought of a contradiction. But one has to do with pure worship and the other with coveting something that RIGHTFULLY belongs to someone else. Like if I love you and you happen to play the piano better than me (which, of course, you do...at the moment anyway...unless you've broken some fingers or something lately), then I shouldn't be jealous of you for that. In that sense "Love is not jealous." But...if you decided to hit on my wife (okay, boyfriend!......just joking!) then I might be jealous of you even if I loved you. But that's because I'm supposed to be jealous over something that rightfully belongs to me and does not rightfully belong to you. When it comes to wives, for instance, therefore, one is protective and jealous. One does not share just because a friend might enjoy the extramarital experience.

    Likewise, Israel was in the position of being the "wife" or wifely possession of Jehovah as far as worship goes. Running after Baal would cause jealousy in this instance and rightfully so because he does not wish to give his worship to any other god. Somethings aer not to be shared, which makes those things special. Unfaithfulness to god, causes him to be jealous. But again, that's not the same context as "love is not jealous" since God is not going to be jealous of what you have or what you've accomplished in your life, etc.

    NOW...Farkel.

    Because you couldn't figure that out BEFORE NOW.....and you considered this a contradiction.....well.....pal.....um......

    Let me put it this way. Maybe you should stick to playing the piano and leave the prophesying to the professionals like myself, huh?
