Seems like another "get out of jail free" card. Have you ever noticed that many Jws are the same way. They make a mistake and have a hard time admitting it, yet breath firery judgement on the world and even congregation members. No wonder these people are not happy.

15 Yes, Jehovah's people have had to revise expectations from time to time. Because of our eagerness, we have hoped for the new system earlier than Jehovah's timetable has called for it. But we display our faith in God's Word and its sure promises by declaring its message to others. Moreover, the need to revise our understanding somewhat does not make us false prophets or change the fact that we are living in "the last days," soon to experience the "great tribulation" that will pave the way for the earthly Paradise. How foolish to take the view that expectations needing some adjustment should call into question the whole body of truth! The evidence is clear that Jehovah has used and is continuing to use his one organization, with "the faithful and discreet slave" taking the lead.

These are general statements the wt uses. Instead of giving a direct answer, the wt uses what I call the "rope a dope" routine. They go around in circle's giving vague answers, and then try to tie it into scriptures.

These threads on the WTBTS and the conclusion of this system of things are always coming up on the board . I think that the WTBTS is far different from other religions in that rather than declare that the UN is mankinds hope for peace in the world they hope in the messianic kingdom . The fact that they tend to create a bunch of hype over a date is not the main issue . As far as they are concerned the end could come at any time and to them the false prophets are the religionists that think that the UN is working towards the goals of the messianic kingdom by using military and economic manipulation instead of trusting in the word of God .

The Watchtower Society demands absolute adherence to everything it says because the speak for God. But when got making a mistake they fall back on this "we're only men" routine. While guys, its one or the other, you can't have it both ways.

Heathen, Do you see the Watch Tower Corporation as more of a political group or more of a religion? I see them as far more political than religious in focus in mission and in nature. I'd like to read your thoughts. Thanks, GaryB -

garybuss--- I see them as a cult . They claim neutrality in the world political scene and are run by men who claim to speak for God and use mind control to get their followers to follow their rules even if it is contrary to the world political leaders . I haven't yet determined if that is a bad thing or not .

Never did they say, 'These are the words of Jehovah.' ~ WT mag.
When I had my 1st meeting with the elders regarding this topic, it was easy to get to the truth of the matter of where the WTS stands on this subject:
THEM: "The WTS never claims to speak for Jah."
ME:"That doesn't make sense to me. I thought that the WTS is the organization that Jah is using on earth today?"
THEM: "It is."
ME: "And I have going door to door representing this organization, right?"
THEM: "Yes..."
ME: "And I've been told that the very name 'Jehovah's Witnesses' means that we are witnessing for the name of Jehovah, right?"
THEM: "Yes, that's true..."
ME: "Well then, if we as Jehovah's Witnesses AREN'T speaking for Jehovah today, what organziation in the world is???"
THEM:"........[Add cricket chirps here...]"

They try to have it both ways. It doesn't work like that. Either you are or you aren't, not both.
