Hmm. This is mixed news; they are such an irritating bunch, that I feel happy they get a black eye once in a while. It is BAD though for the cause of civil and religious rights.

I couldn't see any reason being stated in the WTS release. The police were acting, but on whose authority? Which laws/regulations were being applied?

This is just another example of lazy persecution. If they want to stamp out JW's in their area, why not just hold a TV debate about doctrine and issues within the the org. Whenever I've seen a Dub being interviewed on TV they ALWAYS come across badly. Now that would probably cause more harm to the Dubs than preventing a convention.

I WAS THINKING THE SAME THING IMAGINE if they did a 3 night program on JW- this type of stuff only keeps jw in and folks in general feeling sorry- i mean the image of some 80yr old sister with bible in hand being pushed by some police officer is FULL RIOT GEAR is priceless to the wt- but having some DO, Branch Member with a mike in his face asking him WHY DID YOU JOIN THE UN SINCE YOU TALK SO MUCH SH!T ABOUT IT now that is a WT nightmare

What is really sad is that JWs seem to get sympathy for people when something like this happens and it increases their #'s.

When the WTBTs is seen for what it truly is, abusive, the people leave it.

Using a heavy hand of the government never decreases JW, it only give JW power. Better have a debate and expose the falsehoods publically and the background than doing this. Stopping them from having conventions only makes them seem more appealing to people who have tenacity. I know I was drawn to them because of their so called persecution, figured that was important in being a true Christian. Seems the Russians need to learn a thing or two. But this is the way they have always did everything, thus the totalitarian rule there. No freedom.

Similar incidents of disrupting conventions of Jehovah's Witnesses have occurred before in the Stavropol Territory, in the town of Nezlobnaya in 2001 and in the city of Georgiyevsk in 2000. Since there have been numerous unsuccessful attempts to clarify the situation with local officials in the Stavropol Territory, there is no indication that officials will cease disrupting conventions of Jehovah's Witnesses.

To me, this indicates that the Society knew full well that the chances were that the conventions would be disrupted if held in the Stavropol Territory, but wanted to press the issue nonetheless. As mentioned above, it fuels their "we are being persecuted for righteousness' sake!" mentality.

Pity the poor Russian friends who sacrificed their time, arranged to be away from work, were likely advised to stay in the area to try again the next day (and the next), and received none of the "spiritual food" that they were looking to obtain! One would think the Society would be more concerned about feeding the sheep by making sure to take the conventions elsewhere, instead of once again banging its head against the brick wall of Stavropol officialdom to feed its martyr complex!!! But, noooooooo....

Look, it is simple. They consistently pro-claim that "WE ARE NO PART OF THIS WORLD". Then, as the article indicates, The Actual World denies them access to a Worldly Stadium and what do they start crying (as usual)?:

Over the next three days, up to 10,000 delegates—including the elderly and little children—came each morning to the stadium but found the gates locked. Thousands stood for hours waiting in vain for the gates to be opened. Because of this interference, no one could gain access to the stadium, and it was impossible to hold the convention.

Now I ask, what are they bitching about?

If the jws want access to This World, then they had better stop bashing it and it's governments and civilans! Stop decreeing it is Satans Org and then bitch because The World denies you.

WHAT DID 'THEY' EXPECT?

THIS is why the Watchtower Cult is so incredibly hypocritical and highly con-tradictive.

Their expectations of acceptance in A World they Pro-Claim they are and want "NO PART OF" are pretty ballsy.
