I assume that if Gray Davis broke the law, he would be charged with something; last time I checked, governors do not sponsor laws, legislators do. So that means that dems and repubs together passed a bill that was sent to him, which he signed. You don't agree with it; that is not a basis for a recall. George W. has made a career of catering to the special interest groups that got him elected; should we recall him? Iraq is being rebuilt by a company that Cheney used to head, it got the job with no bidding process; Bush has consistenly placated the business groups that contributed some 200 million to his campaign fund. He has rewarded them with reduced regulation of oil industries, reduced regulation of utility companies which can now remodel power plants and NOT add scrubbers; he has reduced the pressure on car companies to increase mileage standards; he has weakened logging restrictions in national parks; he has moved to weaken the clean air act, the clean water act and has rolled back regulations in the workplace that protect workers. This irritates me; it is NOT a basis for a recall. It just means that if I care about it, I need to get out the vote next election. You talk as if Gray Davis is the only person running the state of CA; he has to work with a legislature, no? Write to you congressman, don't try to re run the election YOU lost.

I've been registered to vote for quite a long time now (been out of the JWs 23 years). However, I have rarely voted in elections because it was a choice of a lesser of two evils, and I cannot in good conscience cast my vote for someone simply because I want to cast it against someone else I like less.
The last time I voted was when I lived in San Francisco in the mid-90s. There was a referendum on the ballot to allow a policeman to carry his puppet (also dressed in police uniform) with him while on duty. I am happy to say that the puppet won!
Having said that, I never fancied myself as a political activist. That all changed in April, when we were turned away at the Canadian border and treated like potential terrorists. I intend to actively do my part to ensure that the current Bush regime is not reelected. I do not wish to continue to be ashamed to be an American.

I will probably start voting when I start figuring out what the hell is going on. I hated politics as a dub but Euph is really into them, so I figure they have to have redeeming value. I'm starting to become more idealistic in my world view now that I'm not seeing everything through borg colored glasses. Since I believed only God could change the world, now I'm sadly lacking in any sort of political knowledge whatsoever. ...what's the difference between democrat and republican again??

I don't talk about religion or politics.I do talk about religion and politics. No I don't,yes I do.Now I'm sounding like the WT.Society talking out of both sides of my mouth.
Seriously now,I get involved in political discussions whenever it is brought up.I remember the old promises,a chicken in every pot,two cars in every garage, and no one should ever be denied health care.we live in the great society!A new generation has the torch! On and on,etc.etc.I have not voted yet,we will see.

Democrats loudly advocate that everyone should love their mothers. They want the entire country to be Communist, wish the Russians had won the Cold War, and want socialized medicine, free condoms and joints in every classroom, sex ed in 6th grade, and they want the flag to be made of hemp. Their patron saints are Barbra Streisand and Jack from Will and Grace.
Republicans loudly complain that no one can tell them how to treat their mothers. Republicans want almost no taxes, a really big army, Christianity as the state religion, corporations to be self-regulating in their treatment of workers, the environment, and their investors - gun-purchasing laws repealed, lumber and oil companies to be able to go wherever they want in search of their quarry, and life sentences for possession of pot.

Hmm… but yet he twice vetoed a bill that was far less radical than this one. He had VETO power as governor. And signature power. As the Commandar in Chief and President has. Maybe need to check your history books again. This is a blantant ploy to gain Latino votes, legal and illegal.

First off, I did not vote in the last election: it was too nauseating. And yes, Davis is working with a legislature. Pretty much as a mafia don would work with the government.
