Congrats Euph!!
The last assembly I attended was a District Convention. I've never felt more like a fish out of water. Despite having been a born-and-bred JW, used to attending meetings and assemblies all of my life, I attended that assembly with open eyes and an open mind. The mass brain-washing was obvious. The zombie-like attendees who soaked up everything that was said to them, accepting the information without question.
Never again.

Another step coming up, wedding. Have to hang in there. I remember my last assembly, made memorable by the DO who said that worldly people are "corpses." If you are married to one, you are kissing a corpse. Wonder why he thought the ministry was worth doing then?
It won't feel like it is the last until you are at home or out and about and not at the assembly site. You will find yourself smiling a lot.

I hated Convemtions and Assemblies (didn't mush like meetings either). So glad I'm not going to those anymore.
Glad to hear that the 2 of you are coming out together.
But can you wiat another month, until you are completely out? I mean at a 102+ years of age you may not make it!

Yay!!! I wish my "getting out" plan was as well planed as yours. Ah, I could see myself smiling as I walking into the parking lot to drive away from all that. People would have thought I was thoroughly enjoing the program. I hope you didn't smile too much. It might have given a wrong ideas to them.

Good news! Our last assembly was the DC in 2002. We didn't really know it was the last one at the time, but it feels great never having to sit through one of thoes bore-fests ever again!
