I don't have a vivid memory of my last Assembly but your story reminded me of the tapes. You know the ones. I can remember being lucky enough to be sick during a convention and got to sit at home and watch tv but then someone brings in a stack of cassette tapes saying how wonderful it was. ARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!! Now what? I had to sit there and pretend to listen for hours and hours.

Eup and Piph, How terrific for you both. I'm glad you've got each other!

Wow I'm trying to remember ... my last DC was I think 1995. I don't remember anything except "Get me outta here" Nick was still an elder so I tried really hard to look interested. It was awful and crowded on certain levels. I'm a large size female so I had bruises from the arm rests of those cheap plastic seats. I kept hoping I'd break the seat and have a really good excuse to go home.

I think we both had decided to not go to the next convention. By that time my honey had been given grief enough. We did attend a few CA . Mainly I wanted to see friends who would eventually stop talking to me. My sister friends kept admonishing me about service yaddah yaddah... I was sad that that's what they cared about, that education was destroying my faith and service would restore it.

Now you've got me really thinking ... I believe I stopped listening to the talks at the DC about 10 yrs before I left. As boring as it got I still believed it was the "Truth." Just plain old snookered!

tyydyy... I always hated tapes. If I was in the meeting environment, and could look at the speaker, I was okay. But I can't just listen to tapes. It's not just WTS stuff... I don't like books on tape or anything like that, either.

Panda... Piph would do the same thing... just tune out most of the talks. I've never been able to do that. At the DC, after three days, she couldn't tune out anymore... it was as if it were forcing itself on her. When she actually had to listen to the talks, she said that she understood how frustrated I felt at the meetings!

    LOL @ Euph & Reborn

Thanks so much you guys! It does feel really good to share this with you guys.

LOL...when I left the pavilion on Sunday with Euph, surrounded by other witnesses, I forgot myself for a moment and said out loud, "I can't wait for the apostafest...uhhh..." Luckily no one else heard me.
