ADIL SALMAN MOUSA told Reuters a group of U.S. soldiers were having a party in the zoo on Thursday night, after it had closed.
“Someone was trying to feed the tigers,” he said. “The tiger bit his finger off and clawed his arm. So his colleague took a gun and shot the tiger.”

The only time the word ' after ' is mentioned is ' after it had closed ' refering to when the soldiers were in the zoo, not when the Tiger was shot.

Actually, I read it that they shot the Tiger after the incident, not "to save him". It does depend how justified it

Not sure what your alluding to, but you could possibly that once an animal such as that "attacks" a human the powers that be feel they will then be aggressive to any human and choose to put it down. Shame someone didn't ask the tiger.

I hate Zoos. I refuse to take my children to the deplorable conditions where animals are kept in a place they were not meant to be. Just think if these tigers were in the wild it would have never happened.

Now if the tigers were kept there not so people could fawn over them but for their safety, because of their being almost wiped out due to men hunting them for a profit, then I might agree. But with the nature of Zoos they are their for peoples benefit not the animals.

I tend to agree with Searcher. There are not enough details past this idiotic nature of a man feeding a tiger who was not supossed to be in the first place.

The article goes onto say the animals are living in deplorable circumstances. (I know, I know, it's the American's fault they are living this way because of the war. The animals should not be there to begin with IMO). Perhaps there are reasons as to why this man ( note man, not soldier) tried to feed a tiger living in deplorable circimstances.

Any of us can sit here and debate the reasons he should not have or should have we don't have enough infomation to assertain anything other then it seems like a stupid act of the man who fed him, another man stepped in to save his life, possibly.

Cassi, who hates the circus also.., , but far from a member of PETA

I am sure that there are just as many idiots in the UK and your constant niggling at America is really sad. We should of course emulate your countries choices then we can say have New Yorks Catholics and protestants fighting each other for hundreds of years and do nothing about it.

I havent seen one post where Simon is "niggling at America". But I do see a couple where you are niggling Simon.

There certainly could be Cassi, but the idiot should have THROWN something through the bars, not stuck his hand in there.

I agree completly. Watching stupid people videos, otherwise known as Real TV, I have seen people enter the "caged" area preceeding where the animal is caged and are immediatly grabbed by said animal before they stick their hands into the animals cage. It was asinine of the man to so inside this area, period.

Nature is wild and meant to be in the wild. ( what's left of it )

Whatever the case, it's just sad that this gorgeous creature was killed, not by poachers but stupid people.

What were these drunk soldiers doing in a zoo late at night?

A dumb soldier is a dumb soldier, whether he is American, British or Iraqi. Any normal person knows not to get too close to a lion or tiger's cage where the animal could easily reach through the bars and touch you.

    Stupid is as stupid does.
