    Donkey,

God was not so much worried about the height of the Tower as he was concerned about it as an accomplishment done by humans without Him.

The all-powerful and all-knowing God (unless he purposely chooses to remain clueless, according to qua) was worried that the first coherent centralized administration might become so successful that it needed to be struck down because it might have achieved some great things.

Read about it in your own Bible at Gen 11:5-7,

"And Jehovah proceeded to go down to see the city and the tower that the sons on men had built.

After that Jehovah said: "Look! They are one people and there is one language for them all, and this is what they start to do. Why, now there is nothing that they may have in mind to do that will be unattainable to them.

Come now! Let us go down there and *obscenity deleted* it all up with a big stick!"

And with that order to His troops, Jehovah creates factions among the human race, with the stated intent of making sure that we will NOT be able to achieve all that once was attainable for us.

He obviously had his "all-knowing switch" set to off that day.

    Donkey,

I thought you were the only Poster on this thread for a minute...ummmm, not all of us who beleive in the bible accept it as either a science or history book...rather...we accept it as containing SPIRITUAL truth.

It sounds like lots of different people can put their own spin on things.

    Reminds me of different religions.

This is pointless... The Greeks knew the earth was spherical a long time ago. Pythagoras figured it out in 500BC, if I remember correctly. The bible was certainly not "way ahead of its time."

Don't believe the old myth that Columbus proved the earth was round in 1492. He and everyone else was well aware that the earth was round.

I just wish it contained more ACTUAL truth.

But if this book was truly inspired of GOD wouldn't it be accurate both historically and scientifically? That's why many christians exaggerate the scientific accuracy of the bible.

Are history and science that accurate?

Elsewhere: I enjoyed that URL about the biblical flat-earth. Definitely a keeper!

dorkycrass: I like your handle. Yeah, I think science is wrong and the earth is truly flat.

If SCIENCE is always right and accurate, we wouldn't have space shuttle accidents would we?
