  Ok since it should be obvious that Mary was not "always" a virgin but did have children with her husband Joseph "after" the birth of Jesus, are you saying that there is confusion about Marys virginity during the conception of Jesus because she was not "always" a virgin?

  In short, do you believe Mary was a virgin when Jesus was conceived?

  I wonder what sources the author got that little piece of information from? I wonder how the author knows they were chaste? For all he would know Joseph might have used to go to the local temple of Baal for Sunday service.

  Thankyou for correcting me A Guest. "A fool replys to a matter before hearing it." It is about Mary's birth not Jesus'. The book is not in my apocrapha volumes for some reason but online it was said to date from 4th century or later. By then many traditions about the Virgin's life had become circulated.
