    1. My parents were verbal, emotional, sexual abusers. Once my father lost control but I ran to the neighbors.

    2. Verbal and emotional abuse stopped in 1995 when I stopped associating with my parents. Attempts at sexual abuse stopped when I was 17 and my parents divorced.

    3. It would have been worse if my mother had not been a JW.

Believe me there are worse things than physical abuse!

I never really got smacked because of the whole jw thing. I'd get the wooden spoon* or the belt on occasion, but that was just old world discipline I guess.

*Wooden spoon was no longer used after one broke over my thigh while being hit. Weapon became outmoded at that point.

Any parent who abuses their kids should be viscously beaten until paralyzed, and then if they continue, should be killed. I have no sympathy for abusers of any sort.

    1. Were you ever beaten as a child? And, I mean where the parent really crossed the line, not just spanking.

Yes, my mother had a violent temper. If she got angry, she completely lost it. She had no idea how many times she hit us when she lost her temper.

    2. If yes, at what age did it stop?

I can't remember. All I know for sure is that one time, she hit me, and I just looked at her. Didn't make a sound. I think I was around 14 or so. I think she realised it wasn't effective. I don't think it ever crossed her mind that I didn't deserve it.

    3. Do you think it would have been the same if your parents weren't JW's?

Probably. She is her mother's daughter.

I got a few beatings...not as bad as Perry...most of the time it was verbal...My MS dad saying stuff like your no FKing good for nothing....If you can't do it right get the FK out of my way....stuff like that. God help you if you spilled somthing or even worse broke something he'd yell and sream at you for what seemed an eternity. He had literaly beat the stuffin out of my brothers but where I was the only one left he only hit me occasionaly.

oh yeah i got them and i deserved every single one of them pretty much......... and many many more besides that they didnt find out about. it wasnt a regular thing and mostly the threat of one would get me to straighten up and act right........ at least for a while. only once did i get a real beating and that was because i didnt realize how pissed my dad was so thinking i hadnt done anything wrong i just got up like an adult and went to do what he wanted me to do nonchalently................ wrong move. it just was like pouring gas on a fire and he took a broom handle to me...... and i seriously had bruises for weeks over that. that was the only one that i didnt deserve tho cause if a kid dont know why there being whipped................. they what the hell good is it gonna do as they wont learn anything from it. now my mom made the mistake of saying ....... you just wait till your father gets home....... so she lost respect points over that one. i got very few whippings from her and they didnt hurt. dads never hurt badly except for the one time. id get five to fifteen swats with a belt or switch and that would sufficently adjust my attitude to suit him i guess. i was good enough at makeing myself scarece when i had pissed him off or disapointed him some how so that kept me in the "out of sight out of mind class". my sister on the other hand got very few whippings since to talk to her would bring her to tears over whatever. i personally have no problem spanking a kid........ if thats what it is..... three to five swats and in ten minutes the pain is gone but hopefully the lesson is intact. anyone who thinks thats the only way to punish is not very creative. ive been talked to and ive been grounded and ive had stuff taken away before................... so it all works at different times and in different situations. IMHO of course

    1. Beaten no - but disciplined with extremely unnecessary force either with hand, belt, or other object - yes. I still have a scar the welts a brutal spanking left. If someone did something wrong at my dad's and no one would fess up, he would line us kid up (except of course for his precious first born) and rotation spank us until someone admitted to it. (most of the time admitting to it just to stop the spanking). My mother had a fierce temper and seemed to lose touch with reality when disciplining.

    2. Stopped when I moved out.

    3. Even if they were not JW's they still would have had temper and self control issues.

I can remember young witness kids acting out in the hall and their parents beating the crap out of them back in the bathroom. I hardly ever got spankings, the evil eye my mother possessed was enough for me.

Could always count on a beating every meeting nights, and most other nights. They used belts, switches, telephone cords, or ping-pong paddles. Yes, it was abuse, drew blood and left bruises.

Last one that I remember was the night I graduated from High School. This one was so bad, I called the elders myself. They didn't come. I just got whipped a little more.

I think things may have been worse if they hadn't been JW's.

You see? Now, that makes sense. Parent's should be able to discipline like that. Sometimes, you have to yell at your kids, take things away, punish them if they do something wrong by using non-violent means. It can be done, and still raise good kids. What hurts worse, a two minute spanking, which just incites hatred, or being denied snacks (for little kids), denying them car privilidges, etc? These things work.

Now, obviously, you can go overboard and punish your kids for every little thing, and make them insane by non-violent means, but most parents who use non-violent methods know what means more and hurts less for kids....take away a privilidge, don't beat them senseless. It just makes little kids into monsters.
