I always like to turn off the sound on the TV and listen to our local announcers. They have better facts about the team and they get much more excited.
Sincerely,

Too bad ABC didn't keep Dan Fouts as the color man, I like him way better than Madden.
Dan was a great quarterback and a great colour comentator.
I'm growing weary of checking in on the broadcasts at the start of every year and trying to keep pace with what anchor is on what network, and whose with him.
Thanks to FOX for screwing it all up. Every time I hear the name Robert Murdock I think of "Cheeses" avatar.
Valis Good point. The best way to watch live sports is to mute the TV and tune into a radio station. Those people know how to make sports live.

Hey, why blame FOX Television? The NFL selected them as their network for NFC games over a decade ago. That's old news. The NFL knew it wasn't getting the murky old CBS "traditional" broadcast when it chose FOX back then. FOX breathed life into a stale environment. I say good for them!

Perhaps you mean "Rupert Murdoch", the Australian guy who owns News Corporation, the parent company of FOX entertainment??
Rupert Murdoch...the man who energized broadcast entertainment and killed broadcast journalism

I respectfully disagree with the last statement. You may not like what Murdoch does with turning newspapers into tabloids. But the FOX news channel has become the most widely watched 24-hour news channel, leaving CNN in its wake. There's a lot of seriously good shows on FOX news channel, and darn it, my local FOX station (KMSP channel 9) invests a LOT of money in its news department. Broadcast journalism as it was previously known, shined brightest at CBS from the 1950's through the 1980's with journalistic stars like Edward R. Murrow and Walter Cronkite. But even at CBS (along with the other networks), the news department became subject to the bottom-line, and soon it had to be seen as "profitable" to survive. That's why we see a lot less serious documentaries and investigative journalism on network TV in the last couple of decades. This all happened before Fox News even was a player.
I was more into the Red Sox/ A's game than the MNF game. Are the A's ever going to get out of the 1st round?
I turned to the MNF game afterward, looked at the score, and turned to something else. Then a couple hours later I turn to Sportscenter, and realized that I missed the greatest comaback of all time (I had watched the incredible comback between the Jets and Dolphins a few years ago, but I probably stayed with that game because my team was involved). The Red Sox/ A's ending was pretty good, but I missed something even better .
But for my money, the best announcing team going is the #1 FOX-TV team of Joe Buck, Troy Aikman and Cris Collinsworth. The booth is electric with those 3 gentlemen present!!Those three are good, but I personally like the CBS team of Greg Gumbel and Phil Simms slightly better. However, with the way the Jets season is going I may not hear that team doing any of my teams games . Am I the only person who didn't really mind Dennis Miller on MNF (except maybe for his opening comments before the games) ?

I like Gumbel too, even though I am somewhat reminded of Bryant Gumbel when I see him. Oh well. Greg Gumbel brings a nice sense of drama to his announcing.
I hope Gumbel & Simms will come to the Metrodome to announce the Broncos-Vikings game on October 19, (although I wouldn't mind hearing Kevin Harlan -- he's another one of my faves).
NFL is fine...but NOTHING will replace Keith Jackson!
WHOA NELLY !!!
WE GOT US A BARN-BURNER !!
