    speaking of suv's................

the VW Toureuc (whatever) really is great. Rides like a Jetta.....which rides like a BMW - without the price.

Toureuc has great interior (if not an overly large person). Drives well too. One of my family's got one - love it.

New Maxima is nice - but Maxima's tend to drive *loose* after a couple of years. Mercedes never get loose. But the Mercedes suv is kinda tacky looking, imho.

The Ford Thunderbird is no longer in production - but great looking while it lasted. The new Z is great - but the Infinity look-alike has more perks...but less power (so I'm told.)

The Cooper is just grand, Eman.

If it's small you want (and Minis are great for finding parking spaces where others can't park), why don't you try an Isetta?

Isn't this Car & Driver 'car of the year 2003'??

You're right, English, they go like (what you said), darn cute sporty, as well.

I would imagine the price tag is not as hefty in the UK as it is here?

A new car (sigh)! Enjoy the shopping process, check out ALL the sports cars and don't forget to take LOTS of test drives!! Suggestions for test drives: MR2, Miata, Jag, how about a Viper (do they still make those)???

I'd see Mr Bean in that car.

    Valis,

hillary, is the Nissan Z the one that uses rotors instead of regular pistons? I saw that car on TV the other day. Cool, but I don't understand the mechanics..

I am not sure of the mechanical side either but Waiting seems to know her car's. I took one for a test drive and I have to tell you its a suburb machine, turns on a dime and power that is reminiscent of a plane taxiing for takeoff. It has to be excellent value for the money.

In 1967 I drove from Boulogne to Rome in an original Mini Cooper ?S? with a relative of mine in twenty seven hours non-stop. A horrendous trip, especially as he kept falling asleep on the Autostrada?s while doing a steady 100mph.

    Waiting,

How are the TB?s mechanically? I am a bit dubious of Yankee cars?I did not realize that they were out of production already, but no problem to me.

    Best regards - HS

Well, thanks everyone for your support. I shall wear it always. Oops..

Ballistic, no more motor bikes pour moi, not since they changed the pedals around anyway.

Hillary Step. Umm, is that some sort of grinning monster you're showing me there?

Valis, you talking about a Wankel type engine here? With rotary operating eccentric pistons? Works just like an oil pump only backwards.

    Everyone else.Thank you!

    Englishman.

is the Nissan Z the one that uses rotors instead of regular pistons?

No, that's the Mazda RX series. The Z still uses regular pistons in a very impressive manner. Now the RX-7's rotary engines are pretty tough. I drove a customer's turbo RX-7 not too long ago. Very fast!

    Mike.

Waiting: T-Bird went back into production last year; that's a picture of a new one in HS's post.
