Just wondering why you choose not to use too many identifying facts about yourself on the boards? Is it to protect yourself, or others?
For me, I have nothing to lose where the Dubs are concerned, and initially my profile was pretty extensive. However, I have realized that lurkers may be able to identify me, and therefore identify other friends on the board who have more to lose than I. So I keep a low profile and identifying factors, such as my DOB and province, to a minimum

Having been away for 20 years or more, I am not anonymous to anyone on this board. I stumbled onto this website quite by accident 4 days ago and thought it was a great supportive site for XJWs. I feel like I am among old "friends" ( no pun intended)
It was very tactfully pointed out to me be VALIS, that not everyone here is free and clear of the "organization". And could stand to lose all if they are "outed". Others may just be monitering the site looking for someone they know. That had not occurred to me ( don't they have field service or something more theocratic to do?)
I do feel very bad for anyone trying to break away( been there, done that), and wish I could help

I've seen some wackos on this board try to invade the lives of posters who have divulged innocent information about themselves. A few people on this board know my name----persons that I feel I can trust.
I'm not anonymous on this board. I've posted plenty of personal info about myself.

I was pretty open when I first joined, but I scaled back for a while after I started getting emails form jw nutbars.
I'll give out personal info to a point. I give more to people who come in direct contact with me. I'm sort of an insignificant smudge to the Watchtower since I was never baptized.
Got too much at stake right now. My best chance of getting loved ones out is too be undercover. Dying to tell everyone who I really am though.

Oh yeah, that guy. He seems so fake that sometimes I forget he exists.
I've got plenty to lose. There are literally only a handful(count on both hands) of people that know me personally from this board. A few more have an address to reach me. Even fewer have my phone number. As it is, I am already flirting with the legal aspects of hosting the BOE letters(already received one letter from their legal dept). Not sure what the ramifications would be if my ISP was ever forced to reveal my name to Patterson.
Otherwise, the folks who know me from meeting in person only know my first name, not my last. It is real hard to stay anonymous and yet want to still be a part of this "community."
