OK -- So can anybody drive my dear cousin FROM Lewisville Hospital TO her home tomorrow? Her ultrasound is scheduled for 10:45 AM, so it would be near lunchtime.
If anyone is still up and actually willing....please e-mail or PM me. Thanks

Hey Brenda, I think I can do that. Give me a call.
((((Sixy)))))
Got it covered, after all. I was having trouble with the site last night and didn't see your message until this AM.
Appreciate it!
Brenda
You guys are so cool, you're not really motorcyclists are you? This sort of camaraderie is what the bikie scum that I hang out with come up with. (my riding mates are ALL online)
Good on the lot of youse
Steve
Please keep us up to date on how she's doing and what her needs are.
Emma
I run the emergency services for The Salvation Army in the county that I live. As far as food and services are concerned she needs to contact her local Salvation Army for assistance. In NY we provide food for shut-in etc.
Also in most cities anyone that has a chronic illness and on SSI qualifies for medical transport. They will pick her up for Doc apppointments as well as hospital visits. She needs to contact her local SSI office or local Department of Social Services for medical transport. There should be lots of agencies that can step in and help this poor woman. Just to name a few would be Catholic Charities, Salvation Army, Department of Social Services.
If she was in an abusive marriage please have her call her local Domestic Violence hotline. I also am involved with the DV program here in NY. She would qualify for added benefits if she is a victim. An advocate through the local DV programs could get her set up with many services in her area. Just a few suggestions. Please let us know how she is doing.
Leslie

Hello,
Thanks for the advice, Leslie! Another poster also told me to put her in touch with a Domestic Violence program, and she went from there this past week.
Smack, I know, aren't they great?
Emma, As requested here is an update:
Firstly, some of you have actually sent her cash via paypal or the mail. I wanted to let you know it's been a great help to her already.
She got the jointly owned truck back from her husband, but not without a fight (literally -- he spent a night in the slammer), so she used part of that $$ to have the door key locks changed. She feels he can use the van (which he was supposed to ensure was in working order as part of the settlement process they went through in September) IF he wants to pay for the repairs and for the auto insurance he let lapse on it.
Her gas was turned off on Friday, but she met with a caseworker from Adult Protective Services this past week, and the advocate will help her get it turned back on on Monday.
She was offered a place to stay this weekend (Thank you, again, Chris and Nina), but elected to stay home, using the fireplace, flannel pjs and quilts for heat.
She's still pretty overwhelmed and now black and blue to boot, but the kindness of you guys and the willingness of everyone I've contacted to almost literally "JUMP" to help her, is not something that will be soon forgotten.
Her soon-to-be-ex was really stupid to have assaulted her in public on Friday evening. Many onlookers phoned 9-1-1 and at least half a dozen filled out eyewitness accounts for the police. Apparently because he assaulted her while they are in the midst of a divorce proceeding, his assets can be frozen, and likely will be, until the disposition of the case.
She is taking her chances that the judge will be disposed to rule even MORE in her favor, now that his mask of respectability has finally dropped.
Dino, because she has the truck, I think you're off the hook as courier, but I'll be in contact. Not sure yet if she'll have the gas money for a ride into town and back.
Same goes for those who offered to drive her to various medical appointments.
Andi, Now you have a[nother] PM.
Loving all my JWD peeps,
Brenda
Hello dearest Brenda!
Just let me know. I'll be happy to use my gas.

Dino
