NEWBIE Me like you, I need the morning kick start, be it coffee, tea or coke.. When I went to the WTS French Classes in Montreal, I would drink 20 coffees double cream and double sugar. Me was a spliting image of my hair do. Today me drinks coffee black, but watch out for residual effects later on in life.

After classes I would drink much cola, okay and beer because I rarely slept because I wanted to conquer this tonuge. known as French. And no that is not French Kissing. And so it was either to the pizza parlor called Slyvio's just around the corner from the kingdom hall on St Hubert or I would have it delievered. I didn't stop until I was understood and mastered the language to a good extent. In the meantime I have forgotten how to speak my own language English

In between school and not sleeping we went in the service as I was a pioneer at the time and I was too deep in my thoughts and made sure my presentation was perfect. I know blah blah....

Yes I was caffeiine addicted. I was one bad kat.

On the week ends they were mine and I did as I pleased even to the chagrin of many including one bitch who at my invitation was living with us. I loved Montreal in the early years but when certain persons who think that it is up to them to control your diet, your hair do and what ever else you do I say shove it....

Me was nice tough, I only brought one claw.....okay you found me out it was all my claws and I had just sharpened them that day.

Yes caffeine is a good thing ( Martha Stewart) or sometimes a bad thing ( Jehovah"s Witnesses.) but I love it so there....

    Love ya

You quit cold turkey Phantom? Mister, you're a stronger man than I. Intense irritability and headaches have always torpedo'd my attempts at quitting.

The thing is, I love the taste of coffee. There's nothing like a cup of hot, black coffee in the morning. Drinking decaf is like kissing your sister.

If I could get myself down to 1 cup in the morning, I'd be happy. But my consumption inevitably creeps up to where it is now, which is around 6-7 cups a day.

6 - 7 cups per day is addicted?

I regularly avarage about that, and I never knew that I had a problem, doesn't everyone do that?

I love coffee---I usually only drink about 3 cups in the morning (ok...they are LARGE CUPS...hehe). Sometimes I feel the need to lower the caffeine because I know it is affecting me. (like I am getting very nervous...) AT those times I would switch to a half decaf/half caffeine blend....try that for a while.

Your headaches are associated with the LACK of caffeine...sorry...that is the TRUTH....I experienced headaches when I went to total DECAF coffee...but after a couple of weeks I was ok...

    Hope this info helps...

I drink 2 cups in the morning, and maybe another during the day. I see no reason to quit.

I use to drink alot of coffee a while back. I tried to go without for a week and got the worse headaches I've ever had. Started drinking coffee again and the headaches went away momentarily. Only then, the doc told me I had to stop drinking so much of it because it gave me palpatations every time I drank. I had to make a choice....

I still drink a cup a day. I just cut back.

Now SODA? That's way too HARD for me to do. I drink Pepsi all the time. I threw a fit when somebody bought me juice instead of my pepsi. I almost threw the cup saying I NEEDED my soda. How DARE they bring me some JUICE!

It is an addiction. It truly is... I knew it was when I tried to stop and couldn't.

I don't have that problem. My main reason for wanting to cut back or quit is because I'm a hyperactive, attention-deficit kind of guy by nature, and I think that caffeine only adds to this.

Lets see, 24 hours in a day divided by

    one pack of smokes

    five cups of coffee

    three glasses of iced tea

    two glasses of cola

    several beers on weekends

and a very occasional recreational herbal remedy.......

    I'm in good shape, thanks.....

    LOL

Seriously, ummm....I would recommend herbal tea in place of coffee. There are a million brands and flavors, you should have no problems.

Substituting one habit for another is the best one. Drink water for every cup of coffee.

Yeah, but that doesn't mean it's bad!! I have an addiction to breathing and eating.

I drink a LOT of pop but it's how I get my water. Yeah, I know there are some that cringe at that thought, but my body is perfectly able to extract the water out of the pop. Caffeine is a duretic, yes, but that just means you have to drink more pop to compensate.
