Tink, that's nothing. I had a customized songbook cover. Embossed leather. Eat your heart out.

I feel bad for you . I agree the best thing to do is not mention past association with the j-dubs unless they try to convert you. I don't think discussing religion at work is good idea at all . I do get really tired of people trying cram christmas down my throat every year and I was never a dub .

Well, at least it sounds like he's not a militant true-believer type. I know that while I was a JW, if I were to have found out that a coworker was an inactive-raised-in-it, I would've felt pity for their crappy childhood more than anything.
The "never-baptized" story might be a good way to go, add to it a "raised in a divided family, mom wasn't real strong" and any prejudice levels should go way down.
He doesn't know your family? Don't you live in the same city where you grew up in "the troof"?
BTW, congratulations on getting a new job, I remember you saying that you had lost your old job but I didn't know you had found new work.

If he is not a practicing JW, then why would he keep religious paraphanelia in his office in plain view? Maybe I am out of touch, but I was always careful to hide my religious affiliation while at work.

Yup, me too. Wouldn't find a Watchtower or Awake any where near my workplace. Too embarrased to admit what I was.
