.......Did YOU get calls and visits from those that "missed" you???

I never did. Soon after I was difellowshipped I became "apostate" and I am sure my wife passed that on to the elder dubs who may have inquired about me.

'Known' apostates are NOT to be called on period, under no circumstances, according to the society.

Gumby, I don't believe anyone would ever think of you as an apostate.

The CO.visited this week, sunday is his last day for the cong. Before his visit, two elders rang our doorbell, twice once in the am and once in the pm..We would not let them in,as my wife just told them over the phone that we don't need or want a shepherding call a week earlier. She really let the elder calling have an earful.

They kept ringing and ringing the bell just because they saw the car outside. You would think that they would think we could be out walking without the car.Which we like to do on weekends together.

No calls from anyone else since we did the fade for a couple of years now. However they shun us when they see us in the neighborhood. One or two say hello because they live nearby, but that's it a quick hello and fast move on.

... in reality, the phone hardly ever rings with a Witnesses calling on the other end to see how we are. After spending a lifetime in the organization, it would seem that this couldn't happen....

Another example of showing something is wrong with this picture. I look back and see all these years of sacrificing things because it was the right thing to do. But for what? Who reallly cares if you are in any way? I went to one meeting in March and the Memorial and not one phone call to make sure I am ok. If the love really was shown, like we are told it would be, where is it?

While I am very opposed to the religion, I must say, that on this issue they are damned if they do and damned if they don't. Some receive few or no inquiries. Some received too many. So, what is the right number of calls that should be received?

egads I think I would go into shock if they did

    I left in 85 - DFed

and no I didn't expect anyone to call

but then I heard about those elder visits that were supposed to happen. Well they knew very well where I was but I never got one.

Even here the elders know I am here - although they don't know my old name (at least I don't think they do) and nope they have never come except by accident when going door-to-door.

Am I surprised. yes and no. At one point when I still thought of this as God's org I figured some one should show up but they never did

Then I was glad they didn't.

Now I would love it if they did

I was a tad surprised by family who knew what happened but never gave one bit of support

    Min,

My first reaction to your question was, "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! No." I attributed it to lack of love. But then I read this:

'Known' apostates are NOT to be called on period, under no circumstances, according to the society.

Well, day-um! That explains it! I am definitely a 'known' apostate around here after my DC flyer episode, the BOE letters delivered to my fellow congregation members on more than one occasion, and my DAing (not in that order). It might also have something to do with the silentlambs No Child Molesters Here sticker next to the doorbell out front!

On the subjects of elder visits, they seem to use a blend of what's easy for them and what's in the best interest of the publishing corporation. Mostly they like what's easy for them.

My mistake as a walkaway was believing the teachings about the behaviors. I found that the teachings about the behaviors and the actual behaviors themselves are actually usually very different. Like the teaching about being able to ask questions, and the teaching about the love in the group, or the teaching about the elders contacting inactive ones. The party line and the reality of it all is vastly different. So much is a facade, a front. Appearance is most important. Delivery and kept promises don't really matter as long as it all looks good on the surface.

The elders didn't contact me until 10 years after I left. I gave them 10 questions and after they had not gotten back to me for 9 more years, I called them and asked them how they were doing on my questions. Then I mailed them 40 more.
