LOL....sounds similar to the commercials put out by the LDS. I haven't watched commercials in a couple years (thanks to Tivo) so I've missed this. I'm not sure but I think that's a good thing.

Love bulids happy families until you disagree with me, then mommy and daddy shun you for the rest of your life.

Fear love bulids controlling happy families.

drw, yea it was just like one of those LDS commercials..except with them using the internet chat as a setting it will get more attention especially with recent online predators being in the news.

so true Michael...we could use something like that for the anti jw commercial.

I hope you are right Beans...but I'm not so sure. There are a lot of parents out there and anyone group who suggests they can help parents raise happy, healthy kids is probably worth listening to especially if they come knocking on their door. Hopefully they will go online first before they get sucked into their web of empty promises.

I wonder if they are actually paying for the air time, or if the stations are donating the time as public service announcements? If it is the latter, then exJWs should be allowed to produce rebuttal announcements for equal air time.

Several years ago, a PBS station in California played the WTBTS's video about the Nazi Holocaust called Stand Firm, effectively turning it into an infomercial about the JWs. I wrote a lengthy letter to the station manager explaining the inconsistencies in the video, and how the WTBTS actually collaborated with the Nazis while their membership was being persecuted. I received a letter of gratitude from the station manager that same week. The video was never again aired on that station.

..'Love builds happy familys' was the slogan or something.

Actually "the organisation" builds your family for you. A witnesses whole life is BUILT on the mold the society has provided, .......if you use 'another' mold........they won't love you anymore.

It was about raising your children with knowledge and love. It showed a teen girl on the internet in a chat room with a person who had become her best friend and wanted to meet her in person and they said something like if it seems too good to be true it is..'Love builds happy familys' was the slogan or something.

So this brings up the question, is it worse for a teenage girl to be abused by a stranger on the Internet or by someone she knows within the congregation? Absolutely sickening the way they fail to recognize the real problem that they have (the rafter in their eye) and instead focus on something else (the straw in the other one's eye).

Interesting how this commercial serves a dual purpose. It is addressed not only to the public, but also to the JW rank and file. The subtle message to the JWs: Stay off the Internet! You can't trust those you meet there!

Mayeb some of us can align with concerned individuals who, for whatever reasons, have those late-night community access shows on cable TV, and put in our two cents' worth for a minute or two. We sure can't afford to shell out the $$$ for prime-time TV like the big religious orgs.

Just think, ex-Mormons have had to keep their barf bags handy while watching TV for years. Now it's the ex-JWs' turn. I hardly ever watch TV, which is a blessing for many reasons....

As for my favorite religious commercials, I've always liked the ones for Scientology. I even investigated the religion ... and said "no thanks" to it, based on the Enlightening and Protective Information Posted on the Internet!
