PS -- Honestly, I think you are FAR MORE than just another blonde bombshell. You have an engaging mind, witty sense of humor and cheerful disposition. You're doing a-ok tink.

PPS -- I didn't know what "phenotype" until a couple years ago.

PPPS -- That's not to say you didn't know what it means!

PPPPS -- I'll shut up now

PPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPS - i'm glad we're back to our intelligent banter :-P

I originally came to this forum to find out what makes jw people tick, after a well dressed, neat and ?fine?, active jw family were so assertively wicked and nasty to our family that I just couldn?t figure out what the hell was happening - they would even smile and consider that there was nothing actually wrong - they would even enter our yard and do things as they pleased - smiling at their kids for doing the same - ????

But it seems that they knew better for us - that we were better off dead - so what difference does it make if they start using our place a little ahead of time - have some clean fun with them - they're probably birdseed anyhow .

Screwed up is only the half of it ? what they do with that affects their behaviours - in some manner at least.

Funny, now i'm back at home with the JW family for a bit, and i've noticed a couple of very interesting things. first of all, they're not as strong in the truth as they once were. in fact the only one who faithfully attends every meeting is my sister and none of them go out in service on a regular basis. so much has changed in the three years i've been gone. second, NO ONE ever mentions armageddon.

Tink: I have been seeing and hearing this for a year, now. There's a very casual attitude running thru the congregations, particularly as regards meeting attendance and field service. Back when I was still going out (or acting like I was), it was incredible to me how little field service actually got done. Now that we are fading and our meeting attendance has gotten spotty, I'm also surprised that when we do go, almost nobody acts surprised to see us... it's more like they haven't noticed we were even gone. I think that's because others are gone so much they don't want to call attention to your absence because they don't want anybody asking about theirs... or else, they're gone so much they didn't even KNOW you were gone. As for the Big A, lip service is still paid to it in social gatherings and at meetings, but you get people in a party mood and it's clear that NO ONE is holding their breath for this non-event. In the past year, we've heard of three couples in their late 30s, all current or former pioneers, who have given birth to their first child. That speaks volumes about how their expectations for the future have changed, doesn't it?

This is one of the theological aspects of JWism that I shoved aside in my mind for many years, but 9/11 brought it to the fore, I probably only went to 5 or 6 meetings following that event. All the JW's I knew were so stunned by it, for the ultra-orthodox it was a faith-strengthener, but I think for most dubs it was a jarring dose of reality that flew in the face of the Watchtower fantasy.

I kept thinking, wait, according to what we believe, those people who died in those attacks are the lucky ones. Cognitive dissonance overload.

I think they talk more about the Paradise rather than Armageddon now. They talk about the resurrection hope and the feeling of having peace and security rather than a fitful day of Armageddon.

SimpleSally is right, it's all about the panda bears and king-sized "perfect" fruit and vegetables. You never see pictures of the "friends" raking piles of skulls or bulldozing piles of worldly bodies around.

    Jehovah, the "Greater Polpot."
