I don't see the dubs in the streets like years ago. They used to be so pesty and numerous years ago, that they even talked about them on the local radio every once in a while. They were so pesty and everywhere. Now they are nowhere to be found and no one talks about them in the local media. They are practically non existant here compared to years ago. There is no increase where I live. I would say that there is about 25% less dubs in my region than in 1990. Now most of them work and maybe do 2 or 3 hours a month in the service.

What's interesting is that whenever there's a so-called increase----Jehovah is blessing his people. No increase, but decrease means "the love of the greater number is cooling off". Either way--- it proves this is God's organization!

Well, let's see, they're one less partaker since Dad killed himself BEFORE Memorial this year -- maybe that's how they're going to keep the partaker numbers down, by driving the partakers to suicide one by one.
Tomorrow my dad would have been 79.

Nos: thats 72 return visits per year. Not that hard to do. Its not 72 different persons.

If you visit his grave/memorial site or in some other way "pay him a visit", give him a cyberhug from me.

Nina, I had no idea the circumstances of your father's death. (Maybe I forgot..............)

Thanks, acsot and Mulan! Yes, "Amazing Grace" touches our family on a lot of levels, and it was beautiful to hear 55 people sing those wonderful words as Little Toe serenaded us with his fiddle. I may take some flowers to the grave at lunch tomorrow -- it's not a long drive from downtown -- and I'll pass on the love! I was thinking over the weekend that he would have enjoyed our group so very much if he had allowed himself to reach outside the box, but he was too scared to think that there was something better out there and that he had wasted 40 years of his life on something ephemeral.

72.8 Return visits per Witness is approximately 6 per month - a little high, but not unreasonable.
Also, when calculating the mags wasted, you need to multiply by the number of issues. Here is what I mean:
Magazines not placed: 1,155,000,000 - 700,000,000 = 455,000,000
Magazines sitting in JWs homes collecting dust: 455,000,000 - 6,000,000 = 449,000,000
Approximate "extra" magazines owned by one dub: 449,000,000 / 6,000,000 = 74.8
Should actually be:
Magazines not placed: 1,155,000,000 - 700,000,000 = 455,000,000
Magazines sitting in JWs homes collecting dust: 455,000,000 - (6,000,000 x 48) = 167,000,000
Approximate "extra" magazines owned by one dub: 167,000,000 / 6,000,000 = 27.8
That's still a lot of wasted magazines. And, don't forget that most "placements" hit the garbage immediately after the householder's door shuts, and many of the "placements" are just left in laundromats or are invented by publishers, just like the hours. I would hazzard a guess that the number that are actually wasted is enormous. Just think of the environmental damage caused by them.
Here's an interesting factoid:
The number of officially wasted magazines, if placed end to end, would be 28,993 miles long - long enough to circle the earth.
