I was born and raised in the north by southern parents--so I am quite, quite familiar with grits and love it!!!!! I guess you could say I'm a GRITS girl too because I have that southern culture.

Glad you enjoyed your stay Eman!

Yes, we can turn right on red, but doesn't England have those circle thingies at crossroads that eliminate traffic lights altogether?

    ahh ... roundabouts !

They are probably as bad for North American visitors as your four-way stops are for us

You ate grits and still like America? That's amazing. I've never tasted anything as vile in my life.

Oh Stacy, say it isn't so! Then again, you're not from the south. My ex used to compare them to Cream of Wheat, silly girl.

I like my grits with cheese and sunny side up eggs all cut up and mixed together along with either bacon or sausage. For you "yankees," they are an acquired taste. Used to irritate my ex as both of our daughters acquired the same taste for them I have.

Grits are a bit like tofu. It picks up the flavor of whatever you do to it. Fried in bacon grease - yum, just don't think about your arteries. Cinnamon & brown sugar. Syrup. Butter and freshly ground black pepper. I need to try the cheese thing.

That dart one drives me nuts, why can't a pub just get some darts, bloddy hell. Here in Can a da pubs that have dart teams will generally have real darts, if they just have perhaps one dart board there not to serious and usually will have none.

Roundabouts . . . dear God, those are scary! Last time I was in London (well, in Weybridge, kind of outside London but still attached by rail), my dear friend was driving and I learned to just close my eyes on the roundabouts because I never did figure out who had the right of way but I was pretty sure I was about to die. Then she drove me to her daughter's house in Kent, on those nice NARROW country lanes bordered with little stone walls on each side. So how can we Texans have head-on collisions daily on four-lane highways while you guys can maneuver those incredibly small roads seemingly without incident?

Roundabouts. Shudder. At one point in Paris I seriously considered just getting out and leaving the car. I found driving in Europe very pleasant compared to driving in the US, but roundabouts damned near did me in.

The worst driving I ever found in either Europe or the US was to arrive in Rome, Easter Sunday monring and need to go about 3 blocks down from St Peters. After that, I parked the car at the hotel and we walked or took the bus everywhere while there.
