There is no dignified way to leave a cult.
the cult leaders have convinced their rank and file that to leave the cult, shows weakness on behalf of the 'apostate(TM). No way can a JW accept the leaders are wrong. It's very sad, but there it is. Mind control is too powerful for some.
WTS/GB have twisted it into a "loyalty issue".
TO NOT BE AGAINST YOU, IS TO BE DISLOYAL TO GOD.
There. Simple.
You have taken action that proves you disloyal (or at least questioning) God (really the GB), so they cannot sympathize or in any way ally themselves with you. No, in fact, they must OPPOSE you because you have taken a stand AGAINST GOD (well, really the GB, but they see them as the same as God).
But look at what you have done schnell.
We are that close to the end, one of our feet is already in the New System.
Two years ago you were nearly there. Now you have thrown it away, when we are this close.
You have allowed Satan to seduce you and for what......? a few years, or even a few months, fulfilling your own selfish desire and at the same time rejecting Jehovah.
Can you think of how Jehovah feels with the decision you have made?
It's hard to understand the extent of selfishness that could drive someone like you to reject Jehovah and his organisation, when it is so obviouse that we are at the time of the end.
And the fact you have a beard shows that your decision was made through rebelliousness on your part.
Can you understand why Sally would hold you in such disdain?
Because she's sorta nuts? Lol
Now whenever I go to Sally's work, she scowls at me. Like, no smile.
I'm still nice and cordial with all my customers, and I treat her and everybody else with the respect they deserve.
You are not acting the way she has been taught you "should" act when you leave.
You are supposed to be bitter, hateful, resentful, gloomy - at best. You are also supposed to be a drug-addled drunken lying homosexual fornicator, who left because you couldn't handle "Jehovah's pure standards.
Instead, you are happy, well-adjusted, gainfully employed, respectful, friendly - just a normal guy.
It's not supposed to be that way. She has years, maybe decades, of reinforcement of how ex-JWs are "supposed" to be, and you aren't it.
Which, of course, starts up that little nagging voice, which she'd rather not hear, but can't make go away:
"If 'they' are wrong about this, what else might 'they' be wrong about?"
To be fair, I really hate it when they appear to "STAY" but I don't wear that look on my face.
Like sir82 said. You don't "fit" with the apostate profile, so you disturb her "truth".
If you presented yourself as pitiful , struggling, unhappy. I would wager a bet she would smile at you. You then reaffirm her "truth".
SCHNELL:
Yes, you are right and those never-JWs on their jobs will be treated better than somebody who has walked away from the religion. An ex-Witness is a threat and a walking reminder that something is wrong with their religion.
I occasionally attend a funeral for older JWs who are dying off. I go to the funeral home because it's a neutral ground. I won't go to the hall...anyway, I get to see some JWs I haven't seen in many years. Some, I used to like..others, not really.
They look and wonder! But, for those who didn't like me all those years ago..what difference does that make to me now? Zero. Among them are people who criticized and avoided me for supporting myself with a full-time job.
I am retired now and not interested in a single word any of them have to say.
Wait for the loaded question:
"Do you think that one day you'll return to Jehovah?"
