You know, I wondered about that.

I said to the Mrs when I got home that maybe someone else should've been present in the examining room - shy, retiring, delicate wallflower that I am.

The doc' said she had to make sure that I had a vas deferens tube on each side to avoid unnecesary incisions so she first examined the right then the left. Then she pressed down on the whole package with the palms of her hands and asked me to cough.

We could barely look each other in the eyes afterwards.

Nic thanks for bringing up the topic. I've been thinking of getting....um....snipped (ouch!) myself. I won't have the situation you had with your Dr. tho, mine's a dude. Did your Dr. lay some good meds on you afterwards? I'm not going to get mine done until I make sure my Dr. won't be stingy with the 'tabs.

    Mike.

I have had it done in 1990, I don't think I would have at the time but my mate at the time wanted it so she kicked my arse into the doctors office. Hey its no biggy, you will feel sore for a few days and it will like a potato but it goes away. Everything is the same, you just don't have fish swiming no more. Here is cue ask your doctor to give you some valium a half hour before the procedure. Enjoy the rabbit life latter. Hootie Hoo

Did it 5 1/2 years ago, the only thing that hurts is the needles in your nuts. I was panting and then one of the nurses in the other room came in and all of a sudden her head is over mine and she says "Just Breath"

The first needle felt like it hit something it wasn't saposta and sometimes I get this funny feeling like something is trying to make a right turn in a sack but there is no way out. A keen touch can feel the work done and kinda feels whacky man!

Why man? Is this a JW hangup you're carrying around, some deep personal conviction or does the the thought of a 'cut' just give you the heebee jeebies?

    Hey Nic,

I had it done 3 years ago. My wife and I decided that after 3 kids ( and 2 miscarriages) our child bearing years were behind us; it seemed like the responsible thing to do. I had the exam to see if I was " a candidate". I also signed the forms.

The procedure lasts about 10 minutes; mine was TOTALLY painless, required 2 stitches ( dissolving) and had no after effects. I was back in action the next day.

It was a little embarrassing to be spread eagled on the table while the female doctors assistant " handled things" , the doctor performing the procedure was male.. It was even more embarrassing 1 month later to bring a sperm sample to the lab to assure that the procedure worked, prior to having any unprotected sex.

It was the best thing I ever did; to this day the hydraulics work as good as ever; but it is a personal decision. Some guys just do not want to do it; and that is OK.

I remember the Society said that vasectomies and hysterectomies wouldn't be healed in the New System. Or somebody said that they said that. I never saw it, but that was the consensus when the subject came up in the car group.
