Oh I don't know..... I have a feeling myself will know the best candidate on election day

So Simon, I'm thinking that what the pundits and polls are missing in New Hampshire is just how well McCain did there last time, late in the game; You and I both know which candidate will appeal to those voters , don't you think?

Simon, The political posts will get bad come next August through November. After the election the name calling will continue "you're stupid, no you're stupid. you guy lost because ^*((*^(%*)(, yours won because $$$$$$$$. Ad Nauseum.

How about a topic class like "only illogically political discussions", or "don't cross this line if you vote", that way everyone knows what to expect and you won't get any shocked "Well I never expected this on a supposedly loving place for Xjws."

Okay, now that I have read the Terms of Use (sheepish smile), I think what it really comes down to is consistent enforcement. If there is a rule that says no insulting remarks, then that rule should stand. Of course, I also know that it is easier said than done. All moderators can not be in all places; this board is simply too busy.

So, does anyone have any ideas on how we can help Simon enforce these rules?!

What an odd topic and thread.

Let me make it clear - that is not why we're here and if that is the only reason that you are here you will find the number of posts you have will be limited.

I'm rubbing my eyes...hard to believe this is what it is coming to.

This board used to have waaay more political threads in the "old days".

Like sand in your palm, the tighter you try to hold on to it, the more it slips through your fingers.

Memories like the corners of my mind....

Simon....don't do this. I have my strong political opinions, of course. I sometimes post on political threads, but stop if it turns into name calling.

The one thing I DO is read them. I don't have such a closed mind that I think I can't learn something new or form a different opinion based on information I read on these threads. I read a hell of a lot more than I post. And I value these threads. Just because of the differing views. I have learned things I might never have known.

Isn't it worth keeping them for the amount of "good" info they provide? Rather than deleting them because of a few posters?

I AM NOT BANNING POLITICS !!

What I'm saying is that the way *some* people express their opinions is very distasteful and I don't think we should put up with it. Also, some seem to want to just use this forum to push their politics and nothing else - they post on no threads but the political ones.

Again, dicussing current affairs is ok as long as it doesn't take over AND they can be respectful of other people's opinions and points of view but the blanket politics are not welcome.

Why can't we post blanket politics? It is a real issue.
