People have been, and still are, disfellowshipped and shunned by their own family for believing even the slightest thing different from what the governing body say they're allowed to believe.
You don't even have to physically commit any sin or break a Watchtower rule, if you deviate from one single doctrine, even in thought, you're considered a mentally diseased apostate and can expect to be disfellowshipped and shunned if the elders find out.
Letter to all circuit overseers 1 Sep 1980 sent during the great purge at Bethel in which many long serving, loyal members were disfellowshipped for agreeing with the bible over the governing body..
The full letter can be downloaded here: http://jw-wayback.org/jw-wb/English/Letters/To%20Bodies%20Of%20Elders/-1989/1980-09-01%20To%20all%20circuit%20and%20district%20overseers%20(apostates).pdf
You know, like a cult?

Wonderful post, Vanderhoven!
It's a great resource thanks for posting Van.
Biahi Mark Jones is a member here. He goes by the pseudonym Pale.Emperor ☺️
Isn’t Pale Emperor the English young man whose mother shunned him, in a very severe manner? Poor guy, he got a divorce from the first wife, too. But he moved on, I believe, and remarried. 👍🏻🙏
Watchtower will never give up on it's Shunning Policy. They are Idiots they will never change.. Jw's just have to wake up and see it's BS. And yes it's hard. I have some family still in who no matter how much wrong you show them, they can't get out of there. Their comfortable with it. With Watchtower and Jw stuff, I their is No Comfort, It's full of holes.
@ Vanderhofen
i didnt realise you were disfellowshipped--i thought you never had been a JW.
That's what happens in the ORG when you wake up.
