I don't have a 1 2 and 3 as there are so many films which have merits for different reasons. I would say that somewhere in my top 10 was The Matrix 1, Event Horizon and 2001 a Space Oddessy.

Somewhere in the bottom 10 would be all the Rocky films and a strange film I saw once about mutant frogs with 3 snakes - if anyone knows what it's called, I'll be amazed.

Some of my favorites...in no particular order:

    • Schindler's List
    • Shawshank Redemption
    • The Matrix (first one)
    • Donnie Darko
    • Aliens
    • Lord of the Rings (both so far)
    • Requiem for a Dream
    • Office Space
    • Galaxy Quest
    • Mulholland Drive
  • Big Tex

Wait a minute. Are we talking the best films, or our favourite films? The reason I ask is that I adore Star Wars, I've watched it dozens of times but I certainly wouldn't say it was one of the best films. It's fun but it's certainly not in the same league as say, Schindler's List or Citizen Kane.

Oh but it is Tex.......StarWars is more than just a fun best film, its a great film. Its almost a religion in itself. A couple of years ago we had a national census over here in the UK , and for religion, many thousands entered "Jedi" as their prefferd choice. Ok they're nuts, but I smiled.

I reckon no better/best/great film has been made since StarWars....... it still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up, and yet I don't know why.

For me personally, The Sound of Music will always be a favorite. The Wizard of Oz also. I am not bonkers about Gone With the Wind like many people, however the last few years I have only really liked two movies, Shawshank Redemption and Contact. These movies were and are absolutely awesome. Another favorite of mine with Harrison Ford - Witness. I also love watching American Graffiti, what a riot to see all the stars before they were stars!
