I've been here for a little over a year, made 4400 posts...compared to almost 1,000,000 posts...if I've read 10% of the posts here [a very optimistic appraisal at best], then I've responded to 4400/100,000 posts=4.5%.
Big deal.
Along the lines of what LL, sns, and carmel imply, the "best" threads aren't necessarily the "most responded to" as "the most read," but perhaps, on a more fundamental level, "the most thought about."

I think sometimes it's hard to phrase a response to some threads - you may want to say something but can't quite put it into words (or don't have the time to spend).
The number of responses does not indicate how interesting people find it - after all, it could be just two people having a disjointed chat or one person spamming.
Sometimes, it's the things that people disagree with most strongly that they are most inclined to post on.
I suppose another way of looking at it is... what if everyone reading posted "OK read this - I agree", it would make a very messy board with hardly any meat.
Hi Jack! I find your post's to be interesting to read and reflect on,they give me the other side of the picture.Don't stop posting subjects that interest you, many read them and you do not know what effect you are having on a persons thinking about what you post.
I am not going to allow a few post responses stop me from continuing to post here.We all have different reasons why we respond or just read and not respond.
I'm appreciative that Simon has kept this forum up and running so that at the least we have somewhere to go and find others who impart something that is of some help to us all in our search for meaning in this life. You have added much to this forum,do not let lack of response deter you from continuing to post what you find is interesting to you.At least you will have given us something to think about.

It would seem obvious that a low number of responders to a thread is indicative that the thread is of little or no interest to the other posters on the board.
I'm afraid he's right.
When a thread comes along that has been on the minds of others.......you realise how many read this board. I have noticed if a prominate person decides to say "goodbye" or a thread that a GB member has died,.....or any other BIG news...........then you find p[eople ARE reading, and are looking actively at this site. A good topic will bring people you thought weren't there......out of the woodwork. I know.....because I'm the epitome of a thread killer.

I always figure you see the name MOUTHY & say " Oh thats the old lady skip it- shes a doh-doh!!!I really wanted to know what the english thought about the Burrell book about Diane ...I didnt get one answer ( walks away saying well this thread will end now)
Donkey, I have posted many, many times. Some work and some don't. I have written serious stuff and silly stuff. As I said, some works and some doesn't. I wrote one on Free Will versus Determinism. Search on the word, Determinism. Basicly is was a conversation between me and one other person - a JW guy who was getting a master's in philosophy - very unusual. Only two or three others posted. I didn't really care. I thoroughly enjoyed debating with an egg head JW. It was great fun. Like you, I do not believe in Christianity or any other religion, for that matter. There are several of us here, who are like minded.
I don't post mostly because I have read another's post that said what I wanted to say, and they said it better. Good.
Soemtimes I feel lazy or apathetic about being heard.
If I want to discuss Thorium based nuclear reactors I don't join the Hockey chat forum.
Vitamins are good for us, we don't all take vitamins.
if A person-not you, just anybody-seeks validation by posting and getting posts, that is probably not healthy.

Just responding so you know I read your thread.
