I take it that you view that jesus was a historical person, what independently verified evidence can you provide to prove from the time period that the claims are made .

The four gospels were written by unknown authors many decades after the so called events so not eyewitnes accounts.

What about the historical records of Tacitus or Josephus. Have you looked into them?

Tacitus was born c56 AD so not a eyewitnes and doesn't reveal the source of his information.

Josephus born c36 AD so again not a eyewitnes, and the quotes from josephus about a jesus are viewed as being added later.

It's a Greek inscription that dates many decades after the so called events,.

Can you please provide independently verified evidence from the time period that this individual is considered to have lived and performed his miracles etc .

You could consider the work of professor James tabor, a biblical scholar of ancient Judaism and early christianity.

In Studies in Biblical and Christian Archaeology in Memory of Michele Piccirillo, Jerusalem, 2013, O. Gutfeld and A. Ecker write about the ancient Greek inscription shown in the video above. As regards the dating of the inscription they say (p.168) :

Partial excavation of the cistern has yielded pottery dating from the 5th to 7th or 8th century CE and from the 13th to 15th centuries CE. The flat base of the letters, especially that of the sigma, hints at a date between the 7th and 8th century. This date fits well with the latest evidence of Christian activity at the site (Patrich J. - Tsafrir Y. 1993. “A Byzantine Church Complex at Hor- vat Beit Loya,” in Y. Tsafrir (ed.), Ancient Churches Revealed, Jerusalem, 265).

Unfortunately a dating of late second/early third century is wishful thinking.

Can we revert to the actual topic? Hijacking the thread is too common. If you need to pursue another issue, start a new thread or send a private message.

Translation: Don't engage with Touchofgreys perfectly valid question that challenges my cherished world view.
