Fallen, winter- "Truth" is an oxymoron in Jwism. The more research ( not using Watchtower information only due to Bias) you will soon see the holes of nonsense.

Fallen_Winter: How will I navigate life without spiritual support?

Surely the JWs are not the only source for Biblical study and spiritual support in your area. Are there no other churches in your area? You might find people who would be happy to study/read the Bible with you and have discussions without the implied (or stated) obligation to become a full member or be cut off.

What purpose would I have in making up a story? There are no telltale signs because it is my lived experience.

There a various reasons a person might do this. I’m not suggesting the following are the specific reasons in this case but possible reasons include:

    • To get attention
    • As a cautionary tale about JW Bible studies
    • To practice creative (or AI-generated) writing

I am seeking attention which is why I came to this website. Otherwise, I would have kept the matter to myself.

As far as cautionary tale, I would imagine the tale to me more dramatic. I haven’t given a salacious story nor have I reported a serious grievance done to me.

I know what AI is, I don’t know myself to consciously use it.

The original advice stands either way. A person in this situation should cut their losses and quit the study. If looking for ‘spiritual connection’, JWs are not the only religious organisation. Or even just join a book club or something.

I have also learned a lot about God and the Bible.

    No - you haven't

You have allowed a JW to indoctrinate you for the last 6 months with their own interpretation of the bible. Ask them if anything you have learned is subject to change in the future? If the answer is yes, what you have learned can't be considered truth.

Take what you have learnef, and through prayer and faith, continue to build your own relationship with Jehovah and Jesus. Even if the study ends I have a feeling your "conductor" will be back occasionally, especially if she doesn't start another. You would not be prevented from attending the meetings if that's what you want. Much there would depend on the general atmosphere at that particular hall. As you said some might "distance" themselves, but there could also be some who would be welcoming. You really are not dependent upon one single person.

So I guess what you’re saying is that after studying with the Jehovah’s Witnesses for months on end you still don’t know (or agree) on what their good news is.

    I find that very interesting.

Happy Easter, Seabreeze! And to all the rest of you here!

@Sea Breeze, after studying with the witnesses, I am not convinced that they are the true religion and I do not know what their good news is. I thought that the good news was that they were bringing Jehovah’s word.
