Well said. Probably the most enlightened comment of the entire thread. Bolton was put in place because the Republican establishment wants a war. Being engaged in a war around election time would pretty much seal the election as it did for Bush.

However the Buffoon King is not cooperating. Inviting the Taliban to the US for talks around the 9/11 anniversary . Even Bolton must have had a facepalm moment at that move. No wonder he had to jump ship.

Trump is the new Teflon Don. No matter what he does, whether it is talking about sexually assaulting women, defending dictators, inviting active terrorists for meetings, etc, nothing sticks to him. I remember listening on the radio about Bill Clinton and the "Oral Office" what he did with cigars to an intern and hours of testimony that only elders in a judicial meeting could enjoy. And people say Trump isn't Presidential. Clinton was impeached by the House because he lied to conceal his affair with Lewinski and he coached his secretary on what to say if she was called to testify. That was called obstruction of justice and perjury. He was acquitted by the Senate.

Trump has lied to just about everyone and Republicans have publicly expressed disfavor with that pattern of behavior. But by refusing to meet and testify under oath (after agreeing to) he avoided perjury charges. But most importantly he tried to suppress the FBI and Justice dept investigations of himself and his team by pressuring and threatening various important players, firing Comey and ordering the firing of Mueller during the formal investigation. He also coached testimony regarding the Russian election involvement. He could be impeached in the House for obstruction of justice and disregard for the emoluments clause etc. but surely would be acquitted in the Senate.

Pete, if you were falsely accused of being a traitor and was being set up by the FBI’s top brass and CIA , would you defend yourself or think it’s ok for the FBI and lying media to just do what they do and simply not defend yourself?
