I have always been a good friend whether as a JW or not. I am very supportive and "real"...and "genuine"...My religious experience didn't add to me being a good friend...that is just the way I am.

Billygoat, as for relationships outside of my marriage. None of my family were ever involved with the JW's. So yes, my relationship with my family has improved tremendously. They are glad to have me back in the normal world. Although they don't understand what's totally involved in leaving this religion, I have since educated them, but still sometimes they look at me like I have two heads.

asleif_dufansdottir, I like your attitude. I need more of it.

Rick Aust I agree it probably wasn't a good Idea for me to stop going to meetings cold turkey. I planned on being sporadic in my meeting attendance. I just couldn't take it anymore.

I'm very proud of you for hanging in there for your wife. My hubby was "gone" long before, would drop little hints to help me wake up. In the meantime I was so scared he was leaving <gasp> "the truth" that I became even more fanatical about meetings, etc. So take it slow for your wifes sake. She may see the light and understand where you are coming from.

I'll come back another time to comment on the quality of life I have now.
